Even if they include Tobey, my man Sam potentially directing Avengers movies bums me out a bit. If he has to do a 'One for them, one for me,' I'd rather it were for something kookier like Doctor Strange 3 or even Fantastic 4. These Avengers movies are far removed from the earnest 60s/70s fanboy that he is.

You’ve got several other movies coming out, one being Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice 2.” Can you talk to me about working with Burton and reveal what character you play? I haven’t seen any footage yet, but it was fun to do. I play a police officer in the afterlife, so I’m a dead person. And in life I was a B-movie action star, but I had an accident and that’s what sent me to the other side. But because of my skills, I became a detective character in the afterlife. So that’s my job. But it’s colored by the fact of who I was [when I was alive]: a B movie action star. Willem Dafoe Talks 'Poor Things,' Reveals Role in 'Beetlejuice 2'<strong> </strong> (variety.com)

I can't speak for anywhere else, but our curriculum is objectively more ambitious and challenging than it has ever been. I hear parents and other teachers daily complain about how 'easy' children have got in nowadays, but it's just not true at all. 11-year-olds need to be able to use and understand passive voice, subjunctive form, semi colons, colons, dashes, commas for clarity.... If they can't, they are not working at 'the expected standard'. You know when I learned those things? When I became a teacher. I got by studying English Literature at a fairly prestigious university not knowing what an 11-year-old needs to know now.

Another viewpoint - I'm a teacher and I am forever amazed at how much better than standard of English teaching and learning is compared to when I was a kid. I'd say the average child I teach is able to read and write far, far more skilfully and purposefully than 95% of people I know. We also romanticise how we were in the past. Children have a short attention span nowadays? I deliver training for teachers, and I can say without doubt that children are far, far better at actively listening than adults.

It was alright. One thing with this franchise is that the supporting cast is going to be spot on. Davis, Schwartzman and even Dinklage are all really fun in this. The last third is a bit of a slog, but it was in the book, too, and the movie, like the previous three, is largely just the book in live action. The first movie remains the most interesting cinematically and as an adaptation.

Really enjoyed this. Felt almost like an amalgamation of several other Christie titles. The denouement suffers because of how loosely they follow Christie, but it helps that Hallowe'en Party is lesser Christie anyway. Tina Fey struggled with her more dramatic moments, but this is the first of these in forever where it felt like all suspects had their moment(s). The balance was just right on this one. I'd love twenty more, but I'm more than content if this is Branagh's last. He's leaving on a high after the all-round disaster of DotN's pre-production and post-production. Everyone knows about the latter, but the former was bad as well. I can't help but wonder if this movie even getting made is partly an apology for that.

I disagree with this big time. The show was mostly boring but it looked incredible. -

Oooooh. I didn't know this. Let me change my rating for The Batman from 6/10 to 9/10 and start stanning its sequel.
