  1. This was wild. The opening and ending are fab and what's sandwiched in between is absolute madness. Christine meets 80s romance meets Friday the 13th Part V (with my main woman Ethel being reincarnated as Corey's mum nnnnnnn). Loved seeing Laurie be Laurie for a change.
  2. I think this is worth a punt. Much less flashy than MotOE and DotN. Halloween setting will lend itself to an October release. Non-cursed cast... *knocks wood*. The book isn't one of Christie's best, but there's scope to improve and it's really quite meanspirited and nasty in a way that makes it stand out. I'm guessing DotN did well on VoD.
  3. It reminded me of that first Fear Street movie in that it's competently put together but aggressively annoying. It wasn't for me at all.
  4. Evans was bad in this. So was Page. It's also the first time I've seen Ana de Armas and not fallen in love with her. Bad movie.
  5. Looks incredible. Even if it ends up being a mess plot-wise (which would be more than understandable), it's completely going to land emotionally and that'll make it another phenomenon.
  6. The trailer will work for audiences as all they really want to see it JLC fight Michael Myers. But lots of leakers say this trailer doesn't reflect the actual movie.
  7. I often think about how STJ made Fifty Shades of Grey far, far better than it had any right to be, despite the book's author literally having the power to overhaul every creative decision she made, launching a billion dollar franchise in the process...and then being hung out to dry. That movie is good and I will not hear otherwise. I hope this works out for her.
  8. As someone who doesn't care whatsoever about fidelity to source material, for the first time in ages, I can't helped but be bummed about how Eternity was used and presented in this movie. The Eternity saga is absolutely peak Ditko. So odd, so bizarre, so beautiful. There's nothing like it. Here he's just another MacGiffun. They really squandered Doctor Strange's best story to try and stitch together something of a plot for this one. What's more, it really feels like he was added in reshoots.
  9. Halloween 2018 initially tested poorly and was well received. Halloween Kills tested incredibly well and was shredded by fans and critics. We won't learn anything about its quality from the test screenings.
  10. Ragnarok: Loki watches a play of Thor mourning him and adds an Odin reaction because he craves their affection. Love and Thunder: There's a play recounting Ragnarok because people found it funny in the last movie. The two movies summed up for me. The movie collapses because Taika is so desperate to force a laugh in almost every second. It's overwhelming and more than a bit annoying.
  11. It has fleeting moments that really work, but it's overall a dud. Hems, Portman and Bale all really go for it and deserved a better movie. I never once bought into the idea that Ragnarok undercut its serious with comedy. With the exception of the Korg gag after Asgard is destroyed, the drama is played pretty straight and the comedy is all about revealing character. Here it's just gag after gag, thrown at the wall in the hope that they stick, and almost none of them land. I ended up chuckling a few times because Hems was really, really going for it and I felt I had to give something. Because it's so relentless with poking fun at itself, I found it hard to commit to the drama. The internet is going to hate this.
  12. Thor and the first Cap have an earnesty that the MCU largely lost after The Avengers. You can still feel the cogs turning, but like someone else said, they're mostly sincere. Both have aged well. Hems, Hiddles and Hoppy (!) are all great in it and Hems has always been funny. It's a fun time. Also, super sci-fi Kirby Asgard (with its tens of people) >>> ugly 'lived in' Asgard.
  13. Sid largely sitting 6 out but coming back prominently for 7 makes me worry for Gale.
  14. The dreamwalking exposition dump The ice-cream song The music note fight The Illuminati massacre The underground chase Zombie Strange The most complained about parts of this movie are its best parts! There are legit story issues to go for, but people would rather complain about the scenes which show even a semblance of directorial style. Stinky poo.
