  1. Whatever happens it'll be gargantuan in the UK. It's the post-covid most people here seem to be waiting for.
  2. The TV series became my guilty pleasure over the last year but the film was genuinely awful. Nothing happened! Hopefully this one will at least attempt to have some narrative stakes.
  3. The trailers for this have felt off. Bloated. The movie has my money but I'm going in cautiously.
  4. To be fair the relative lack of blockbuster releases in the last couple of years has probably increased hype for this, so covid's worked both ways. I know I'm a lot more excited for Bond than I would have been otherwise.
  5. I only ever really had a problem with the MCU's washed-out palette in the first Guardians movie. It looked so crap, and actively thwarted the fantastical tone. I haven't seen the second one, maybe they gave the grading a bit more leeway that time.
  6. I still find the fundamental lack of curiosity over this movie really striking. I know when the marketing kicks in things will change, yadda yadda, but that's from a really low bar right now.
  7. I watched a bit of the 2016 effort but couldn't stomach the whole thing. It barely had a script - something Feig actively bragged about on the promo trail but clearly didn't pay off as he intended.
  8. I thought it was an incredibly dull, empty trailer but the movie does still feel like the first genuinely hyped post-covid blockbuster, which is nothing to sniff at. (Bond will be gigantic in the UK and is the movie everyone here's waiting to return to the cinema for, but that's no surprise).
  9. ^ Nope, people said the agent fight in Reloaded was awful even at the time. SM3 also got called out for some shitty CGI upon release.
  10. I'm sure the movie will be fine but the idea of paying such reverence to one of the most irreverent comedies of all time still feels... weird.
  11. Christ that was a boring trailer for what should be such an exciting concept. I hope this trend of making teasers over 3 minutes goes away soon. Ah well, it got a gazillion views so who cares, right?
  12. I spoke to someone the other day who did special effects work on this. I didn't ask about spoilers because it seemed rude, but they said 'the film has some very out-there ideas, and I don't think I understood a lot of it.' Take that as you will.
  13. The rot's been setting in a long time. You have to go back 21 years to get a domestic top 10 of the year that has a majority of original and/or non-sequel movies.
  14. Not making any comment about this film's chances, but I would have no idea of its existence if I didn't visit this forum.
  15. I think that's a tad disingenuous, but either way if this movie is on par with BR2049 then good - I'll enjoy it a great deal.
  16. That trailer really didn't need to be thee and a half minutes long. I hope that doesn't become a trend. But yeah, looks suitably epic. I suspect the two jokes they chucked in were in fact the only jokes in the whole movie, but I see why they were included. I'd still be surprised if this makes a lot of money.
  17. Looking forward to this but I absolutely think WB are taking a bath box-office wise. Yeah hype is tangibly higher than BR2049 but that means bugger all. More than happy to be wrong on that.
  18. My main problem with that movie is how fucking ugly it looks. They managed to make the imagery of a wacky space opera with all these weird aliens... dull. I know Marvel gets a lot of shit for its washed-out color grading, sometimes unfairly, but it's absolutely applicable there. Anyway, Black Widow. Curious to see how it does in the UK. I've long said that returning to the cinema seems far lower down on the list of priorities for brits than the US and I wonder if that'll pan out with this movie.
