  1. I don't mind the Hiro/Baymax relationship being the heart and soul of the film, but I hope the other four Big Heroes are not just there for rounding up to the number in the title.
  2. My Top "5" animations: 1. Aladdin 2. Frozen and Princess Mononoke tie 4. TS3 5. TS and TS2 tie
  3. I wouldn't have even then. Even as a kid, TLK never resonated with me as much as Aladdin or Mermaid. Matthew Broderick as Adult Simba is such a snooze. Nala, Zazu, Sarabi and the hyenas are all under-developed and Timon and Pumba are overrated. The pinnacle of the movie is the stampede scene and the part of the movie that follows never manages to catch up to that level of greatness ever again. That Zimmer score tho!
  4. I hope it's not coz I seriously don't like what it has got to say about the non-Hiro/Baymax team members.
  5. Frozen is better simply bcoz Anna and Elsa are a gazillion times more interesting and likable protagonists than Simba. Also, Olaf >> Timon, Pumba and their tired old flatulence jokes.
  6. OMG, I'M SO SO SO EXCITED FOR BATMAN AND ROBIN!!! It has three of my favorite Batman villains, Poison Ivy, Bane and Mr. Freeze. Arnie is an unusual choice for Freeze but it's Arnie, so what could go wrong, right? Uma Thurman playing Ivy is just so though. If her characterization is as complex and tragic as Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman in Batman Returns, then I see yet another Best Supporting Actress nomination for Uma. She should win as she was robbed for Pulp Fiction. And Alicia Silverstone will SHINE as Batgirl, that's for sure! She was BRILLIANT in Clueless. And she's so HOT in that new Aerosmith video. She is gonna be HUGE! Move over, Julia Roberts, America's got a new sweetheart. I really think Joel Schumacher re-energized the Bat franchise with Batman Forever, as evidenced by its BO. B&R will not only be an improvement but will make Batman a major pop-culture mainstay like never before!!! Its success will have WB rushing to release Batman 5 before 1999 plus have Robin and Batgirl spin-offs before the new millenium. Exciting times for a comic book fan!!
  7. I cannot believe how much I truly loved Claire to forego any and all sense of self-preservation for her life.
  8. Yeah, I didn't feel the gut punch of THAT moment in HTTYD2 either. But I don't think being vaguely spoilt about it was the reason. It was just the execution. I was similarly spoiled about there being a twist in Frozen relating to "true love". But the actual moment in the film with Anna taking one last painful look at Kristoff and at what could've been for them but still deciding to jump in front of Hans' sword for Elsa was devastating anyway.
  9. I LOVED Queen and Highway though. I know they are the exceptions and not the norm, but still.
  10. To be fair, there are FAR, FAR fewer female characters who are lead protagonists or antagonists than there are men in those roles. Also, even in an ensemble piece like The Avengers or Inglorious Basterds with different character narratives and no one clear protagonist, the number of lead female characters are always far lesser than the number of lead male characters.
  11. Lol no. That's not the issue. The issue is barring a few exceptions like Hunger Games and Frozen, women, no matter how strong, are just used one way or another to support or provide progress to a male character's journey and story arc.
  12. Give in already, Claire! How can you resist dem Spidey charms! ROFL @ that psyche. Also, the Baumer + iJack thing.
  13. Elsa is perfect! I wish Anna had been chubby but minor complaint. She looks nothing like Rapunzel.
  14. I have been saying this since the conception of this project. Finally, somebody who agrees!
  15. Whitewashing? One girl is clearly Asian, one dude is black and one kid is of ambiguous race with a name that is definitely Japanese. And Honey Lemon is supposed to be all blonde, pink and girly. That's the crux of her character and the reason why Gogo thinks she is an attention-seeking phony. It adds to the team dynamics and inter-relationships. Plus, she will have glasses in her civilian attire, apparently. Twitter needs to shut it. Pretending to know this franchise like the back of their hand when they were clueless like everybody else just before yesterday. Tumblr needs to REALLY cool it as well.
  16. If the GA has stuck with the genre for this long, I'm sure they will be there as long as it keeps reinventing itself or new and diverse characters (either leads or ensemble) keep appearing. Diversity is the key here, in characters, story-telling and the tone. That was the main reason the westerns died out. They could not adapt. Superheroes have that advantage. Marvel, WB, Fox and Sony just need to be smart about it though if they want to sustain the genre demand for another 30 to 40 years or so. It would be lovely to have movies made on the Muslim teenager Ms. Marvel and the predominantly LGBT and racially diverse Young Avengers ten years from now or so, something people have never experienced before. Also, something like Batman Beyond, Spidey 2099 or futuristic Spider-Girl (Peter and MJ's daughter), X-Force, West Coast Avengers, Teen Titans, Nightwing, Birds of Prey etc. could be really strong spin-offs. If Guardians does it, so could these B-level titles. Just control the budget. Hopefully technology and time makes things cheaper to produce, let's see. True about animation studios though. Disney Animation is the only awesome exception right now.
  17. Maybe she's fire resistant and they are ambushing the same opponent who is off frame to the left? Something like this:
  18. The posters put together ALA the Avengers banner (Click to enlarge): Gogo's design is REALLY beginning to grow on me now. It's really dynamic.
