Thanks for all the updates you've been giving Olive.
I'm still a bit shocked (but also pleasantly surprised) at the numbers Cap managed to pull in China. Exceeded almost everyone's expectations. Great run.
Olive, you lied to us! :PFor a movie that has an inflated OW, Cap's legs is pretty good in China. Couldn't ask for more. It should increase on Thursday. Just 17M away from 700M. Is Sunday its last day in theaters?
I hope Fatal Encounter is a hit. Cause it's always good to see local movies thriving. That and I'm a fan of Hyun Bin and wants to see him score big at box office
The weekend drop is a bit harsher than weekends before (around 54-55%), but it did well enough on weekdays that the weekly drop is good. Let's see how next week shape up. We should get an update on Tuesday when it passes 650M.
So 35M OS week. That's less than 50% drop from last week. If it benefits from holidays next week to soften the drop expected from Spidey, we could see it's getting real close to TDW's OS total by next Sunday.
Yeah, when you put it like that, I guess it's close. In terms of dollars though, the way it worded, it's like he thinks it's gonna end up just a few millions below. Incredible result for a Cap movie either way. Never would have thought of that a few years ago. With Cap's run and Frozen's monster result, Disney must be celebrating, they're swimming in money.
Well, Sony certainly doesn't think that Cap is competition. Why would they? And Cap is already in its fifth week OS, so not exactly competition to Spidey right now either.
I remembered reading about The Irishman, an upcoming Scorsese movie that will star Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. Do we have a thread for it? Or any updates about release dates and such?
Man, that film is old. I remembered liking it a lot when I first watch it. You remind me, I'll see if I could find it online or at my library for a rewatch.
Speaking of Michael Mann, he has a new thriller coming out next year called Cyber. It starred Hems and Viola Davis. I haven't read up much about it but I'm looking forward to the movie.
Heat is an incredible movie. That face-to-face coffee scene between Al Pacino and Robert De Niro  :wub:I just rewatched it recently and now you guys made me want to watch it again.
Yeah, this is pretty bad. TASM2 will have holiday bumps next week but it won't have the luxury of summer weekdays like TASM1. Furthermore, I think SK is way overdue for a local hit, and Fatal Encounter looks to be it. If it breaks out, Spidey legs won't be pretty.
I totally expected the possibility of domestic numbers going down, but definitely not OS. Sony basically followed the Marvel play book with the early OS release schedule in May to take advantage of holidays, and they even have more advantage than TA and IM3 with the Easter holidays in some major markets. 500M is of course, still a big number, but barely an increase from the first or even possibly decrease, while in a very good position competitions and release dates-wise; that would just be bad.
