Well, it's the limited appeal of the Star Trek series itself. I actually just got out from seeing Beyond again. So I think I've done my part in supporting homeboy. Shane it doesn't do more, I really like it, it's my favorite in the reboot series so far.

I knew it's gonna be painful, so I tried to save you the suffering and pain by dealing the quick blow.

Still no match for Nine Lives' 58%. It's a WOM monster!

ST09 got ~2M OW and 5.6M total. STID about double what ST09 did both in OW and total. OD for Beyond looks to indicate an OW closer to ST09 I think. With the crowded markets and quality outputs from Korean cinema, I think it'll perform more in line with ST09 too.

@Tele the Jet Baller May he rest in peace.

I'm inclined to believe our own Chinese members who know more about the inner working of SARFT than sites like JoBlo. But I guess, once they banned it, the reasons are irrelevant anyway.
-
Nah, SS was banned wasn't because of the violence. Not sure where that narrative comes from. Our Chinese members in the subforum said it has to do with the character of the Enchantress. Don't know why but that's what it is. If movies are banned in China because of violence, you would not see their own domestic productions released. Let alone movies like The Expendables series played and performed quite well there.
-
Quite ironic now considering the movie is neither dark nor violent.

Dr. Strange's trailers all look boring. Visually good but dull otherwise. Domestically, Ant-Man's numbers at best IMO. And I see it'll do better OS thanks to the effects and China (which I heard Cumberbatch is pretty popular in) Very good numbers across the boards. Some crazy jumps too. These bigger and bigger Tuesday jumps keep making Wednesday drops look worse than they normally would be.

I remembered that back in '13, IM3's good BO result was at odds with its divisive nature quality-wise, leading to "wars" even among the core fanbase; and that makes for entertaining debates. Following that was TDW's mediocre receptions/average BO, and there were lots of riffing on Marvel. On DC's side, MOS was also divisive and debate-inducing in many aspects. Things were brutal in moments, but most of the times, it's funny, silly, and entertaining. To me at least. As opposed to now, the fan wars get more and more circular, downright nasty, and frankly, unbearably stupid. It's not fun, it's not done in jest, and there's no amusement anymore. I don't see the case now as a "mods putting the foot down for DC only". Things just got way too serious and tiresome for everyone, even the ones who want/have no involvements. For me, I think it's just embarrassing to see that the mods have to really come down on the issue harshly like this. But some ya'll simply went to far and it's rightfully warranted IMO.

Unless I don't know about it, I would watch their movie as it is. But once I knew of how certain individuals are terrible human beings, it's just hard and sometimes impossible for me to even watch their products, let alone enjoy it. I mean, I can get pass the assholes because there are people with great talents, and big egos come with the territory. Rapist, physical/sexual abusers, and the likes though, that's just disgusting.

Excuses, excuses. Embrace it, be proud of who you are, old man. I don't judge

Ya'll only confirmed it now? I figured out that shit since he was deep in closet about it lol. He came out of the closet quite noisily too ala "MOS over 400M Dom" That of course backfired, and I guess he's been retreating back and try to be more subtle these days.

Damn, the scathing reviews of our members in here are both savage and funny. I guess I'm in the middle pack. I don't like it, but I don't loathe it either. I thought it was a whole lot of wasted potential and questionable choices in both editing and characters presentation/relationships. My biggest gripes are the bombarding of music (many songs I feel was out of place and frankly, annoying) and the contrivance of the plots that lead to very weak motivations as well as the "all tell, no show" deep bonds that we're supposed to believe these squad members have. The brightest positives were Will Smith and Viola Davis. I thought Margot was decent, but the characterizations of Harley Quinn failed her IMO. There were moments of fun and levity so it's enjoyable at times. Otherwise, it was mostly boring. The less said about Jared Leto the better. C-
