  1. Destroyer of the Worlds is hauntingly beautiful...but I can barely the rest of the score other than it's loud.
  2. Why are people expecting Dune to open to $100m? The first movie got positive WOM, but it wasn't out of this world or anything. I understand it opened to $40m at a time where COVID still dominated, but for the sequel to hit $100m would be shocking.
  3. Who's the actor that played the lead in Detective Pikachu and a co-star in Jurassic World 2? In both movies, especially the latter, he was absolutely awful and insufferable. Casting him as the lead in DP was absolutely ridiculous. It was crazy that they went with a storyline of a spinoff in the main series, but just as crazy to cast him.
  4. I love the legs on this film. It's not for a lack of family options, but solely because of strong WOM. A movie doesn't open to $29m and finish with $150m+ because there weren't other options. That's ridiculous.
  5. Barbie won't pass Mario - that's almost an impossibility. She'll hit $450m quite comfortably, IMO. With $500m, we'll see how the next week plays out. But topping $574m? That's hugely unrealistic.
  6. A film with Amy Schumer as Barbie, and Michael Cera as Ken would have opened to less than $40m. Casting for established intellectual properties is CRITICAL.
  7. I don't think so. She's absolutely perfect for the role of Barbie looks-wise which is why the film got so much attention. It's very similar with Emma Watson and Beauty and the Beast. She's not a draw by any stretch of the imagination, but they were both (from a visual standpoint) pitch-perfect castings that generated a great deal of hype.
  8. She's definitely above Narnia. Also, Narnia and its universe is just so much less interesting than other fantasy series. But I digress...she may actually create something wonderful.
  9. Barbie is going to demolish DH2's OW. I can't believe it's still the highest OW for WB after 12 years - who would have thought fucking Barbie would be the one to do it.
  10. Oppenheimer, I think, will have legs not quite as great as Inception, but it'll open high enough (around $75m-$80m) where it will hit $300m. And Barbie is gonna hit over $500m. Fucking glorious weekend.
  11. Basically what my friend said as well. She said the first hour felt so much like a documentary.
