  6. Great fun, great nostalgia. In the airport, when Willis, Stallone, and Arnie busted through that glass, with Norris coming in from a different angle, shooting the hell out of everything, I almost crapped myself (in a good way ).

  9. I gave it a B.Both actors are spotty, especially Farrell. So, I had mid-to-low expectations. However, it was a pleasant surprise; I laughed quite a bit.
  10. Week of 8/10 - 8/161. The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey (12/14)2. The Expendables II (8/17)3. Red Dawn (11/21)4. Skyfall (11/9)5. Star Trek 2 (5/17/13)6. Iron Man 3 (5/3/13)7. A Good Day to Die Hard (2/14/13)8. Wreck it Ralph (11/2)9. G.I. Joe Retailiation (3/29/13)10. Man of Steel (6/14/13)

  12. Well, it seems very contrived to me. It's tactically difficult to get things done, and given that there are so many jedi, and the dark side is so attractive, it just seems like an unrealistic constraint. **************** I wouldn't mind seeing a few early movies that eventually end up tying into each other, sort fo like how Iron Man, CA, and Thor all worked to tie into The Avengers. There could be a movie about Han (he has a fascinating back story per the EU), a movie about Obi Wan, etc, and they all would be pointing towards the Vader arc.
  13. The bigger questions raised in Prometheus are so very interesting, and the film was visually spectacular. But the execution of Prometheus was otherwise very bad. So much potential, such a let down. Yet I'm interested enough in the big questions to see a sequel.
  14. I voted Empire for both, but ANH and Jedi are almost as good, IMHO. Sith is a bit lower, then there is a good drop to AOTC, which is barely above TPM.
  15. I generally agree with this very good list, except for the 4-part action ending of TPM (although I loved the saber fight!!!).
  16. I wouldn't mind a complete reboot, maybe after CGI gets a bit better (that is, a full CGI reboot that looks incredibly lifelike). Something very consistent with itself, with the feel of the OT. Still have a Vader arc and a Luke arc, but learn from the mistakes of the prequels. No young Anakin, except possibly in flashbacks if it is truly necessary. Make the fall of Anakin a truly heart-wrenching tragedy, and his redemption through his son just as powerful. I don't think much of the OT would need to change, to be honest. More: Boba Fett, Grevious (if done correctly), Force as a myserious somewhat unknown entity, Sith Lords (a few more, not a bazillion), Influences from the expanded universe, Continuity of technology (droids, ships, etc)Less: R2D2 and C3PO (especailly in Vader's arc), clunky dialogue, poorly written "humor"Remove: Jar Jar, Midichlorians, Sith rule of 2Keep: Williams' score, Most ship designs, Most planet designs

  18. Week of 7/20 - 7/261. The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey (12/14)2. The Expendables II (8/17)3. Red Dawn (11/21)4. Skyfall (11/9)5. Star Trek 2 (5/17/13)6. Iron Man 3 (5/3/13)7. A Good Day to Die Hard (2/14/13)8. Wreck it Ralph (11/2)9. G.I. Joe Retailiation (3/29/13)10. Man of Steel (6/14/13)
  19. This franchise has impressed me, all three times. I'm not a nut for Bataman, but with each of the films, I went in with relatively high expectations, and they were exceeded each time.I kept myself spoiler free, and I didn't see any of the surprises coming, so I was overjoyed with the unexpected.I feel like the movie gave me all the hope that this particular Bat-universe can go on, but I hope they don't make any more movies. Is that weird?Trying to find things to complain about:*Bane's (assumed!?!?!?) death was a tad anticlimactic. I see no reason why Nolan would want to keep him alive, but given what a stong badass he was, they really didn't convince me he was dead.*Talia's final breath was STUPID.*I had to pee really bad for most of the movie, but I didn't want to miss anything. :PI totally wanted that last scene to be a wink to Inception. Even if they showed Selena's face, and only Bruce form behind. But I'm OK with it as-is.A.
  20. I bring this up only because others may have gone through the same:After the horrible news yesterday, I felt that I was in no mood to see this flick this weekend. But, I woke up today and, although I had my moments of doubt, I met up with one of my friends and we saw it.Given the timing, I'm pretty sure I know when it all went down in that theater, in respect to the movie. During that scene, I was pulled out of the flick, and quite aware I was in a dark movie theater, and I felt a bit vulnerable (of course there was little logic to this; just emotion). But, besides that one scene, I was able to escape into the movie, and forget about the horrors of the real world for a bit. It was nice. And I enjoyed the hell out of the movie!****************Don't spoil this one for yourselves - just go see it. I was able to keep away from any spoilers, and that totally added to the experience. I want to say more, but just in case, I won't - just go see it!!!!
  21. 1:15 PM show today was 3/4 full. Maybe a bit more.As for the film - wow! It's rare that I go in with fairly high expectations, and have them surpassed. Very good first impression! I plan to see it again.
  22. Week of 7/13 - 7/191. The Dark Knight Rises (7/20)2. The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey (12/14)3. The Expendables II (8/17)4. Red Dawn (11/21)5. Skyfall (11/9)6. Star Trek 2 (5/17/13)7. Iron Man 3 (5/3/13)8. A Good Day to Die Hard (2/14/13)9. Wreck it Ralph (11/2)10. G.I. Joe Retailiation (3/29/13)
  23. Yes - my thoughts exactly. SOOOO good in parts, but so frustratingly stupid in others that the net effect is poor.
  24. Week of 6/15 - 6/211. The Dark Knight Rises (7/20)2. The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey (12/14)3. The Expendables II (8/17)4. Brave (6/22)5. The Amazing Spider-Man (7/3)6. Red Dawn (11/21)7. Skyfall (11/9)8. Star Trek 2 (5/17/13)9. Iron Man 3 (5/3/13)10. A Good Day to Die Hard (2/14/13)
