kitik
Well I was thinking today be the first day in a while no film would make 1M, but-Riddick might still be over it today. I went to see Riddick with a friend this afternoon. We'll see if that was enough to help it over a million. Fairly entertaining and well-made movie, though the ending seemed a bit abrupt.

Cochofles
It's not even playing here except in a few places in Toronto and maybe Vancouver. Canadians are racist and hate Mexicans. Just kidding...duh!
baumer
It is interesting though, some films that are aimed strictly at Hispanics or blacks have not played here. Tyler Perry films do and Jumping the Broom or whatever it's called, things like that play here but some of the other smaller "urban" films don't.

Question: is the whole rap/urban style/"thug" thing big with Canadian kids (of any race)? By the way, when I say "thug," I don't mean it as criminal, but as in the specific fashion aesthetic that is a big part of rap music/rap culture. You guys know what I talk about, right? What about Fruitvale Station and The Butler ? Two different things, I know, but I wonder how they played in Canada... baumer
Butler is playing really well here. At least from what I can tell. It started off in ONE theater in London, Ontario (population 350,000...about the size of a place like Springfield Miss.) and now it is playing in 4 theaters. It was packed both times I saw it.
