X-Men: Days of Future Past OS thread

That 478m includes 2m from PR which is already counted in domestic gross. So BOM has it at 476m.

So, BOM is the only correct source on the internet? And you're saying that it made 2 million in Puerto Rico in the same week where it made 10 million in the whole of the US? Puerto Rico accounts for 20% of the domestic box office? Come on, man...

It didn't make 2m last week. More like 0.2m. Last week the difference was 1.8m, the week before it was 1.5m.Most sources just report what Fox Intl provides. Tracking grosses in PR is done by Fox Intl despite it being a domestic territory.

Deadline's final international box office report for the weekend:

X-Men: Days Of Future Past in its 5th overseas frame added $11.99M from 6,531 dates in 70 markets. Venezuela was the only new ground this weekend where it took $1.6M and the No. 1 spot at 123 dates. Brazil was a strong hold with $1.26M. The UK dropped just 37% for $951K on 420 screens and a local cume of $43.46M. The total international cume to date is $478M.

Almost $12m weekend. -34.8% weekend.

Ok, then where does BOM get the numbers and why are they the only ones using correct numbers? Also, where was this difference first reported and confirmed?

BOM must have access to a greater set of numbers. Maybe they get it directly from studio. Even if they don't, they only need the PR gross, which they may get from other sources like Rentrak and deduct it from the official numbers.

BOM probably takes the effort to correct the numbers becuase they have the best international database and want it to be as correct as possible,

I first noticed this anamoly when IA3 was released. Every week there would be some difference between BOM number and numbers from HR/SD and this difference kept on growing (however the quantum of growth in differences kept on decreasing). In the end, I asked Ray who expained it in detail to me and also told me that this happens for all films from Fox.

Interesting. Still, it's curious that it's just BOM that takes this into consideration.

Because it's the definitive site for Box Office numbers. I'm sure they want to be as accurate as possible. No other site does what they do with box office office numbers. Even Box Office.com doesn't go into as much detail with the numbers. No other site can compare.

New OS number for XTotal Lifetime GrossesDomestic: $217,536,652 31.4%+ Foreign: $476,035,000 68.6%= Worldwide: $693,571,652OS number is as of sunday

Looks like 700M before TF4 hits. And with the delay in release of TF4 in a lot of European markets, it may well end up at 715-720M before the WW run ends.

From another post (editied).. Yeah 2m for PR in total is about right

It increased I guess, but BOM deducts Puerto Rico's number from the gross. Fox counts it twice. I don't know why. lol

Most distributors PR is part of DOM others its part of International. In Fox's case which totally bizzare  PR is part of international and reports to international however yes both DOM & International include the gross, what happens though international divsions WW total is DOM (-PR) + intl (inclu PR) = WW (215m+478m).  BOM (if they get PR gross) do it as 217m+476m and everyone else winds up with 217+478 lol

Also PR open films on Thursday not Friday and some films don't open same week as DOM, sometime when people joke about PR total in a film it hasn't opened there yet :). for example Sex Tape Opens US/Can 18-Jul, PR 31-Jul.

Very interesting. So those other sites will report it hitting 700m earlier than it actually does then?

400k monday??That sounds low

I doubt that's the fully updated number, considering it just opened in Venezuela and it making at least 75k in China on Monday. Not to mention the other 68 territories. That number looks like the actuals after the weekend. Edited by Skybreaker

Venezuela is the key for 500m. Removing it from the equation, OS should finish with 490m+. So can Venezuela contribute 8-10m is the question.

DOFP performance in LA has been very similar to CA2. CA2 did 10m in Venezuela. DOFP has opened higher but CA2 had very impressive legs.
