Thor 2 had a massive drop but damn Freebirds fell off a cliff.
John Marston
much harsher drop than Skyfall which made $7,215,854. In fact it is only slightly above Skyfall's Thursday Edited November 13, 2013 by John Marston

narniadis
Skyfall also didn't show signs of playing like a family film. Seriously the amount of dodo off the cliff due to one drop mentality is overboard. Wait until you have the second weekend to make a judgment call - not like movie plummeted from Friday to Saturday this past weekend

But yes it's nothing new - people have freaked out at one bad drop ever since I followed at mojo 10 years ago.
Impact
Well I remember when the first Cloudy had a terrible first Monday I was trying to explain to people how it was quite normal for that time of year.
John Marston
since it is playing like a family film it should recover on Saturday however for a film like this you want good weekdays as well especially when a juggernaut is going to open in your third weekend. I wonder if Marvel will decide not to release films outside of summer anymore

It was a risk to move Thor to the holidays one that came with the knowledge that weekdays would be squashed.
narniadis
And before people freak about the week to week drops last Tuesday was a voting school holiday for around half the country.
