Tuesday 11/12/2013 Numbers -Thor 2 Big Drop $5, 244,111

50% drop. It might be playing like a family movie similar to IM3, if you go back and look at this same Tuesday last year Wreck-It Ralph and Hotel Transylvania fell 75%

Yeah makes sense. Thor 2 had a massive drop but damn Freebirds fell off a cliff.

Skyfall also didn't show signs of playing like a family film. Seriously the amount of dodo off the cliff due to one drop mentality is overboard. Wait until you have the second weekend to make a judgment call - not like movie plummeted from Friday to Saturday this past weekend

LOL This is how it is. You've been around long enough. We are a reactive bunch.

Might just be because I'm getting older I don't care for the massive swings in opinion as I used to. But yes it's nothing new - people have freaked out at one bad drop ever since I followed at mojo 10 years ago.

since it is playing like a family film it should recover on Saturday however for a film like this you want good weekdays as well especially when a juggernaut is going to open in your third weekend. I wonder if Marvel will decide not to release films outside of summer anymore

Watching Box office is like playing a video game or watching your favorite sports team.

Well it's too early to tell that. We have to see where it ends up for real.

An obviously one day does not a complete picture make. It was a risk to move Thor to the holidays one that came with the knowledge that weekdays would be squashed.
