spizzer
THIS scene (20 fucking seconds only) makes me care for the characters more than I ever did in GoF in its entirety. And it's a very small scene. Yates nailed all the little trio scenes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogZMzVWMQao 2nd half of this next one (that staircase shot though) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16kFvNk1rXo 1st half of this one is missing
Mojoguy
Just realized Golden Compass was opened on the same slow weekend in 2007. Was New Line stupid ? http://www.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/?yr=2007&wknd=49&p=.htm They certainly were. Overseas rights to the film were sold to fund the $180 million production budget for the film, so most of these overseas profits did not go to New Line. ddddeeee
Yates was so good at Potter that he hasn't stopped working since.

kayumanggi
LOL, I saw those kind of dudes when I watched this as well! They are probably with a barkada. Yeah diverse audience for me as well but since it was a Friday night, lots of yuppies more than kids in my screening. There were also claps, not loud but scattered but still very uncommon for a regular screening. I hear applause and such during press screenings and local film festivals but very rare for regular screening. The last time I heard applause from regular people before Frozen was On The Job. And the lines were long. We stayed at the mall until 10 PM and every time we passed by the cinema, the long lines for FROZEN always got my attention. I think it will do relatively well. (You know animation isn't really like comic book films here). The last time I heard people clapping was with DESPICABLE ME ll.
#ED
Wait... it was?? Yup. Almost felt like the last hour of the movie was all in complete REAL IMAX. That was awesome. I didn't expect that. Where was the marketing on this? Wtf? Anyway... Jlaw is hot.

#ED
I don't care what anyone says. Peeta is played by a shit actor. Why wasn't Liamsdouche given that role instead? What gives?
Dementeleus
So, does Yates ever direct a big-budgeted film again? And by big-budgeted, I mean like over $40m.
