riczhang
I was thinking; the more I think about it, the more I think that Kawase will win the Palme. I was originally leaning assayas, as many members of the jury seem to be inclined towards a vote in that direction, but then Juliette Binoche happened. I'm pretty convinced that she'll win actress, so then assayas can't win the Palme. And Campion really loves asian cinema and I can see her being the domineering jury type. I'd say outside shot to Godard at this point. He's won these major jury prizes before on influence alone and Campion's also a huge Godard admirer.... so, I think he has a shot. (I'm hoping for Dolan tho. I'm like basically in love with him )
riczhang
Oh and with that 3.00 FF reception, Timbuktu's winning something. No film that's gotten above that mark on FF in the past few festivals has failed to win something. (Except Rust and Bone I think, but that might've not gotten above 3.00 and that was also because a member of the jury had her husband stolen away by Marion Cotillard, so yeah...... Don't think that film was ever gonna win anything )
TLK
Binoche won't win Best Actress. If Assayas movie is good enough to win the Palme then I can see her being mentioned along with Assayas just like what they did last year. Cotillard is the favorite for best actress for some very good reasons. Julianne Moore also has a pretty good chance.
Jake Gittes
God. Are we seriously talking about who will win what when there's another week left and 80% of the films haven't been screened yet?

Michod is a very good director but Animal Kingdom had a unique story. The Rover seems like a more generic post-apocalyptic movie. I am not getting excited about Fury Road either for the same reason. Just seems too generic.
