well, because he keeps trying and trying,. he's still a flop

And she's very rich but she stills wants to be seen, doesnt mean she has a movie career or can carry a film

Statham's not the one putting these movies together. They come to him, not the reverse. Alba clearly just does what she wants -- money isn't a driving force. It might've been as simple as getting paid to go hang out on beautiful Thai beaches.

The Mechanic: 11.4/29.1 and WW gross of $62.0. It had a budget of $40 million. Clearly it did well enough to make a sequel.

The sequel estimated opening is $7.5 million in US.

A drop in the OW, sure, but eh, I wouldn't say it flopped. Nowhere close to a flop. If you have a star who can consistently deliver action movies within a range, and you put him in action movies with a low enough budget to make money off that range, why wouldn't you?

I was surprised to see that this opened with 24.4m in China. It's made 69m OS so far and 90m WW.

That's a surprising increase over the first one. We'll probably get a new one in a couple of years.

Nice job mr Statham.

Wiat, what?

What the hell China? lol

Yes, Mechanic: Resurrection did/does surprisingly well OS and not only in China. I looked it up from time to time at BOM and was pleased to see many openings to #1 or #2 and the fine holds (for an action film) in several countries.
Since BOM says 90M on October, the 23th, it should cross the 100M mark today :).

So far it made 239 M Yuan = 35.3M US$ (Oanda) in China. Not bad for seven days.
