Hernan Gonzalez
So BH6 is basically smashing in Argentina? Urgh I hope I can say the same in the remaining markets. I am thinking it will do $5-$5.5m before the end of the year and the arrival of The Hobbit 3 on January, 1st.

Hernan Gonzalez
I really hope TH will open strong. I hope that too!! BOFA opens on Thursday. Frozen sold almost 100k tickets this year on that day DOS, Final: $5.2m, 736k admissions AUJ, Final: $7.4m, 1.05m admissions Those 2 movies opened a week before Christmas. Let's see if this change of release date affects the movie performance.
Hernan Gonzalez
How is the performance of BH6 for you? December is always a quiet month in this market. But this year BH6 injected life to it. It's around 50% better than last december. If BH6 can hold in January it will be a big success. Frozen opened on the first week of January and it was hugh (BH6 needed more than 2 weeks to do that). So next week is crucial for BH6. But I think it will succeed.
Hernan Gonzalez
The Hobbit BotFA opens today but many movie theaters are closed (including the biggest chain of the country). On Friday, when all the theaters are open, it is going to be shown in more than 300 screens, which is a good number in this market. On Saturday morning we will know how good its OW will be.
Hernan Gonzalez
39k admissions for The Hobbit BotFA, something like $0.25m-$0.30m. Pretty good number taking in account that half of the theaters were closed yesterday. And the ones that opened did it after 6 PM
Elessar
Doesn't look that good to me if we compare it to Frozen, which sold over twice the amount of tickets. I guess it's gonna make as much money as DOS - half the amount Frozen did. Edited January 2, 2015 by Elessar

DoS opened in 360 screens and it sold 40500 tickets. Today BotFA should do so much more than that in more than 300 screens. It OW should be so much better than Smaug's
Elessar
You sure it's gonna be so much more today? Is there no fanboy rush in Argentina? That could dampen the increase. Anyway, as long as it can do AUJ numbers in the end i'd be fine. If it's just DOS numbers... well, at the end of the day, we are talking about a few million dollars here. Not that much of a deal, anyway.

But the sum of all the small markets count and it could put the movie over $1B WW. Anyway we will know tomorrow morning how much it is doing today. I hope I am right and it does good

Hernan Gonzalez
Niiiiiice! I'm really curious how much it will end up with and how it will do compared to here. It should do something between $1.7m and $1.9m. That's 20-30% more than DoS. So it could end its run at around $6.2m-$6.7m... It is so going to beat DoS OW After Saturday BotFA is already on par with DoS OW. And it still has to add Sunday numbers. 20% better than DoS is a lock
Hernan Gonzalez
Screendaily: "The New Line-MGM fantasy finale scored the biggest Warner Bros launch of all time in Argentina on $2.1m (Ps 17.8m) from 300 screens to rank top and claim 54% of total market share." That's 60% better than DoS OW
