Taken 2 is smashing it at my cinema, sold old sessions in our big 400 and 450 seaters. From my numbers its looking at at least $5+ for the weekend.

$8.2m OW for Taken 2 - fucking hell!That's more than the first finished with!!I didn't think that occurred here, where movies open higher than their predecessors total!

Its Taken! Nothing is out of the realm of possibilities. The first one didn't really take off in theaters here (obviously by its $6m total), but strong word of mouth through DVD's/America influence must have helped.We were pretty much sold out from thursday through to saturday, which rarely happens (either films do so-so, or for blockbusters we put them in lots of screens so that they aren't sold out). I went with $5+ because I just couldn't believe it would do more then Taken's total.. But my theaters numbers definitely did point to a massive opening.Though we do have to give credit to the holidays (though at least in melbourne it is only primary and high school holidays).

Taken 2 could reach $20m, it wouldn't even need that great a multiplier.

Absolutely stunning. Kind of reminds me of F&F5 last year, where no one saw the massive opening coming. I think $20m is pretty much certain, next week will drop bad though, easily 55%+ due to the lack of holidays.
