In 5 years we'll probably be having the same debate about Downey's fading star. So it goes....

Depends on what path RDJ decides to go down...

"Chef" and "The Judge" don't look like the kind of sellout projects Depp was doing after POTC 1.

Aside from the next two Avengers movies, he doesn't have any tentpoles coming up. I could see him shifting to prestige pics and shoot for the Oscar.

Holy shit Sony produced a movie that doesn't have a 150M budget and it is not bombing. Not bad. We are getting somewhere Sony.

Even if he does four more flops after this Johnny Depp will still be the biggest actor in the world. I'm not pleased with that but it's the truth.

No way.  Johnny Depp's average box office total is significantly behind the average box office totals of Hanks, Cruise, W. Smith, and DiCaprio.  Of course Harrison Ford is included in there as well, but now that he is 70 his star power is gone.

Dicaprio, RDJ,Cruise and even Smith are bigger than Depp

DiCaprio isn't that big of a box office draw. You usually recognize his movies as quality movies, not as big hits.

Nah. I would say they are all at the same level. Join those 5 Brad Pitt. The dude is also quite big. They are the six big leading man of Hollywood.
