I got news for her, you are'nt going to be the one calling the shots anymore no matter what happens. You sort of gave up that right with your sending the company into the crapper.

Apple would not be so bad.

Paramount surviving on it;s own is no longer on the table; too much damage has been done, nobody wants to risk their money on Paramount; and if you can't get a loan in the film industry you are dead. Sad to see it happen to one of the oldest studios in Hollywood..only Universal is older, but that is way things worked out. The Sydance deal was the best they coudl get, but Redstone, for some unfathomable reason, turned it down. If she thinks she is going get a deal leaving her in total charge, she is living in fantasy land.

Yeah, now that she refused the deal I see Paramount tanking. Skydance deal was the one to ensure the longevity of the Paramount. But the blame is also on the shareholders who want a ton of money NOW even if that means the studio tanking, over waiting and getting more over time. They don't care if a new buyer rips Paramount apart as long as they get their huge payout now.

Amazon already owns MGM so that's not possible. Apple might be a better deal though.

It is either that... her ego has completly taken over...or she has decided to sell it off for the best price she can get, screw the future of the company.

She can't turn Paramount around for no other reason then investors and the banks who make the big loans with which  every studio depends on to finance their film productiong will be releuctant to invest or lend to Paramount as long as she is calling the shots. It is her management ..or lack thereof..that has gotten Paramount into this mess.

And Paramount is not even waiting to get a sequel developed to try to cash in on the sucesss of "Top Gun Maverick:

They have greenlit a remake of their other 1980's Naval Aviation Megahit, 1982's "Officer and a Gentlemen". which was a truly massive hit for them. In fact, Top Gun was Greenlit largely in hopes they would get another "Officer".

One plus for Paramount in this is they don't have to spend the kind of money on this they have to for a direct Top Gun sequel.

The film is about a group of Officer Candidates trying to make it thought the first state of Officer training, which main mission is to washout anybody who does not have what it takes to be a Naval Pilot. You have to complete this course before they let you anywhere near actual flight training. So no expensive flight sequnces for this one.

They have announced Miles Teller for the Richard Gore roll in the original, but of course the big questionis who the hell with they get as Gunnery Sergeant Foley, the extremlty touch DI in charge of the candidates training? The late Lou Gossett became iconic and won a oscar for his performance. Whoever gets cast in this role has one hell of an act to follow.

Granted, that job security in the film business has been lousy since the Golden age studios collapsed in the 1950's. It is a bit like the high tech industry; five or six years is the most you can realistically hope for in most jobs. If you are looking for long term employment, choose a different industry. But still this is bad news for the employees. And I don't think it will be enough to turn Paramount around.
