I just don't see it, sorry. I think the advantage Cavill's Superman had was his unparalleled sex appeal which feels completely stripped away and downplayed in this new uber wholesome family friendly take on the character. People nowadays have a much more cynical outlook on life and the world, and stories should reflect that at least somewhat. I hope this isn't totally saccharine, and deals with issues head on, because I'm really really not feeling anything I've seen so far.

I think people want or will get on board with a wholesome Superman in a good movie. They don't want a dark or edgy one. They don't want a Superman musical directed by Todd Phillips.

People want to be entertained. They don't give a shit if a movie has a cynical outlook on life. Like, what?
