After its terrific China start last frame, Ridley Scott’s red planet romp added $13.5Mfrom 4,427 screens in 17 markets this weekend. It impressively held the No. 1 spot in the Middle Kingdom despite the arrival of a handful of local titles and Point Break. The cume there is now $73.6M, taking it over the lifetime cume of Gravity in the market. The international cume is now $350.7M, with Japan scheduled for lift-off on 2/5/16.

The Martian brought home an addition $8.1 million in 10 markets this weekend including $7.7 million from China, increasing its market cume there to $86.8 million.The Martian has secured $366.3 million overseas and $589.1 million worldwide.

The Martian unearthed $2.5 million in 5 markets with the bulk of that coming from Japan where the sci-fi saga took the top spot for a third consecutive weekend. The international cume stands at $391.8 million and the worldwide tally is now $620.1 million.
