Updated Scores

 

The following has now been included:

1. Week 11 was fixed (Movieman's weekly score added in)

2. Week 12 scores now included

3. Pre-Season Questions 2, 3, 5, 10, 12, 13, 15 all added to the score

 

The result is a quite a turn around.  Exxdee has now shot out way in front due to his fantastic pre-season (so far).  I (JJ) also shot quite a way up the chart into the top 10 thanks to my chart topping effort on the Pre-Season Questions (so far)....

 

There are others who have moved upwards as a result of those Pre-Season questions being scored.  as it shows while the weekly questions do have an impact it's the pre-Season that will decide who wins and who's out... 

 

As always, if you see any errors in the scores please PM me and Chasmmi and we will look into it and fix any discrepancies.

That 70,000 lead !! The lead between 1st and 2nd position is nearly the same as that between 2nd and 12th place. I suddenly really want to keep my 2nd place now.

I'm really glad I removed specific predictions for Carol in the Oscar SOTM now that the guilds are coming in, I could have lost a bunch of points.

Carol will still likely get BP, BA, BSA and screenplay nominations. No best director though.

It's been having a really poor showing at the guilds and missed PGA.

What replaces it though, especially if Room also misses? SOC or Ex Machina? I mean the Academy is already branching out of their comfort zone for MM this year, I can't see them also going for a movie like SOC over one like Carol. They haven't changed overnight. Instead of looking at SOC as "controversial movie about violent rappers", look at it as "popular biopic about incredibly influential musicians and businessmen".

 

CAROL isn't picking up a lot of guild love so far. That's key. If it can get a DGA nod, then the narrative changes again, but right now it's losing steam.

DGA isn't going to tell us much of anything about Carol's BP chances since Scott, Inarittu, McCarthy, Miller, and McKay are all pretty much locked now. Haynes can be as high as 6th and we won't know.

He might be as high as sixth, but CAROL needs to be a lot higher on people's ballots than that to make it in. If he somehow managed to crack the DGA list, it'd be an indication that CAROL has broader support than we think.

How is he going to knock any of those 5 out though and how does that kill Carol's BP chances? We are talking a field of 5 vs a field of probably 9.

Ballots only have five slots for BP, right? So CAROL needs strong support. I don't think it's a guarantee we get 9 BP nominees at all.

Maybe not, just seems this system tend to yield 8-9 noms, so I think Carol has a decent chance. Selma was getting a lot of snubs last year and made it in.
