SOTM 14: The final question of the winter... well questions and then there is also the week 19 quest... damn it! It's a cool title I'm sticking with it. Deadline Thurs 11:59pm Feb 12th

As this is the final SOTM of the winter, I must endeavour to include as much mindfuckery as possible

 

Here are 5 simple questions:

 

1. What will Deadpool gross on Valentines Day?

2. What will The Witch's OW be?

3. What will Zoolander's total be by the end of the game?

4. What will Kung Fu Panda's Worldwide total be by the end of the game?

5. What will Risen make Opening Day?

 

All you need to do is predict a value for each question. Simples...

 

Wait that's no good I promised Mindfuckery and thus Mindfuckery I must deliver!!! But how? Yes of course an insanely, over elaborate hateful scoring system!

 

There are 28 players who have contributed answers/predictions in some form during this game and thus it is possible for a players prediction to place anywhere from closest, to 28th closest. For each question you will score the following points based on how close to the actual total you finished:

 

1st - 1000 points (That is not a typo )

2nd - 0 points

3rd - minus 1000 points

4th - minus 2000 points

5th - minus 3000 points

 

6th - minus 4000 points

7th - minus 6000 points

8th - minus 8000 points

9th - minus 10000 points

10th - minus 10000 points

 

11th - minus 12000 points

12th - minus 12000 points

13th - minus 15000 points

14th - minus 15000 points

15th - minus 15000 points

 

16th - minus 18000 points

17th - minus 18000 points

18th - minus 18000 points

19th - minus 18000 points

20th - minus 18000 points

 

21st - minus 20000 points

22nd - minus 20000 points

23rd - minus 20000 points

24th - minus 20000 points

25th - minus 20000 points

 

26th - minus 20000 points

27th - minus 20000 points

28th - minus 20000 points

 

(If two people predict the exact same value, the winner will be decided based on who predicted earlier. If any players do not post a prediction they will all gather at the bottom end of the points table for every question.)

 

ABSTAIN, ABSTAIN, ABSTAIN!!! I hear you all cry and I would never take away one's right to abstain.

 

In fact you may choose to abstain from as few or as many questions as you wish, all for the low low price of minus 5000 points  (So for the mathemagicians amongst you that means to abstain from all 5 questions will score you minus 25000 points  )

 

Oh and one more little extra thing to sweeten the deal, anybody who ends the SOTM with a positive score, will receive a 50000 point bonus.

But seriously, I think the bonus received on getting away with a positive score in this one should be given a much bigger bonus. The guy who achieves this will have to answer all questions. Any abstain will mean it won't be possible even if the person comes first in all other questions. So you must attempt all questions and - 

1) Come within top 2 in all answers; or

2) Come first in 2, seconds in 2, third in one

3) Come first in 3, second in one, fourth in one or third in two

4) Come first in 4, fifth in one

 

Doesn't it seem a task fit for like... atleast 50,000 points?

That is true.  Although for kindness sake if somebody gives predictions for only 3 questions i will assume the other 2 are abstains and score them as minus 5k.

I think the number of active players is 18, so even if you predict 12 trillion dollars for everything, it will only potentially be a 90k loss

 

(Not possible for me though as I have a fool proof plan that will not fail for this SOTM
