Why is a horror writer doing a (presumably) children's movie? If he scares away too many kids with the story...

You're right.  At this point I should know that Ehren Kruger is a nominal writer for the film.  In actuality, Mickey Mouse is writing the script so that they can fit with his vision and placing it under writer's names to pin it on them if it's bad.  I knew it!

I actually hope they make a Jungle Book 2 and set it several years later.

 

Portrayals of a grown-up Mowgli are so rare nowadays and it's not like there isn't a wealth of ideas from the Kipling novels they can't put their own twist on.
