KGator
EuropaCorp Deputy CEO Ousted After 'Valerian' Failure Apparently, despite the claims by some on this board that the creative financing of this movie made it a successful venture, the shareholders aren't happy about the box office failure of Valerian. Hollywood Reporter financed with the money of US majors is HUGE PROPAGANDA MEDIA (they are trying to destroy Europacorp since a couple of years ) Nothing to do with Valerian.... Fake news again... The decision to produce Valerian was made BEFORE the arrival of Edouard de Vessine in 2016... The reason for resignation of Edouard de Vessine is conflict of interest between Europacorp and the company owned by Edouard de Vessine "Incognita" But we all know that US interest are trying to infuence the media in order to diffuse fake News... the real purpose is that US investors wants to take control of the company and therefor lower the value of the shares. juni78ukr
If Valerian will gross 250 mln worldwide that means all distributors will get around $110 mln. Still a big failure for most if not all involved. Besson humself said it will need to gross as much as Lucy to be okay. Hell, I'm one of the few people who actually went to the theater to go watch it. I even gave it a positive review in the review forum. But it doesn't seem like you are very good at being able to determine fact from fantasy. For example, if you believe this movie was a financial success, that's only in the deep dark recesses of your reality detached mind. If you still don't believe how bad the reception and interest of Valerian was . . . just look at how few people post on or read this thread. Nobody ever wrote here that Valerian is an international success (that's something you invented) --> This alone makes all your comment irrelevant. 2. Just underlining that Valerian is doing well in France (difficult to call a film n°2 at the yearly box office a local failure) or in other countries doesn't mean that we think it's an international success (but I know you probably considers US as the center of the world and other countries not even worth to be mentioned) 3. The fact thath people are trying to find reliable sources, crossing information and determine what is the exact exposure of Europacorp on this movie doesn't mean they want to prove the movie is a success, it means that they want to make more intelligent comments that "What an international disaster". So continue to read Hollywood Reporter, [mod edit] because at the end... who cares ?
That One Girl
Valerian isn't a huge flop and it isn't a huge success. It's somewhere in the middle and will end up just being a film that exists without being labeled as one or another. I don't think there's much more room for debate.
