Indonesia Box Office 2024 - thanks for updating

Recommended Posts

Dead Reckoning Part 1 reported at $5.2M, that's in line with the low end of my tracking.

Meanwhile Insidious 5 reported at $3.8M, to me that's more like FSS only, with the full 5-day OW at $4.9M.

Be seeing Barbie tonight, Oppenheimer tomorrow.

Let's see what the fuss is all about.

Indonesian exhibitors take *very* cautious approach for Barbenheimer

(Having seen both films, I fully understand their line of reasoning)

Will massively adjust my expectations for both

early look at showtime distribution today (will have another look after lunch)

1. INSIDIOUS THE RED DOOR 30%

2. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - DEAD RECKONING - PART ONE 20%

3. BARBIE 19%

4. OPPENHEIMER 14%

5. HIDDEN STRIKE 7%

6. DORAEMON THE MOVIE: NOBITA'S SKY UTOPIA 6%

Both Insidious 5 and MI7 still have very strong occupancy so given first priority.

Exhibitors waiting for general audience reaction:
- Barbie regarding those strong messages about existentialism and patriarchy

- Oppenheimer which we all know is, after all, a talky 3-hour adult historical drama

If all goes well today for Barbenheimer, showtimes will definitely be added tomorrow and into the weekend

A totally bonkers day in Indonesian cinemas today.

EVERYTHING was devoured.

I *DO* however heard some alarming (admittedly fully expected) reports about Barbenheimer.

So am not taking this day for granted.

yeah barbie score in tix id surprise me a lot

was oppenheimer good?

Yesss. Very captivating. It's a long movie, but I wanna see it again if I have time.

Why? I saw it's getting 8.7. A little bit on the low side, but not that bad. Insidious got an 8. Having said that, I can imagine Barbie getting strong reactions from some people here.

i mean i expect it to get 9.5 at least knowing that it was crowd pleaser. i'm also surprised oppenheimer got 9.2, i dont think indonesian enjoy this kind of movie.

I think it's kinda expected. A female-centric movie with a strong feminism message and a 3-hour biopic drama, are not the kind of movies that most people here enjoy very much. That's why I was actually surprised Barbie got really strong presales. The marketing really worked. They are getting pretty good ratings on Cinepoint though, with a 9 for Oppenheimer. So at least they are well-liked by Cinepoint users.

Very cautious OD tracking

Barbie $451K

Oppenheimer $320K

Doraemon $55K

People snoring in Oppenheimer shows reported.

Parental walkouts during Barbie also reported.

We'll see how WOM works out for these two.

Bear in mind that yesterday was a public holiday.
