How has a sequel not been greenlit for this yet?

I am replaying Mario Galaxy, which I have long since called my favorite game of all time, though it had been a very long time since I revisited. Yeah, still the best game I’ve ever played. Even playing Tears of the Kingdom this year. Still blown away humans were creative and intelligent enough to come up with those galaxies and the way they’re designed and how the mechanics work. 

Anyways, got me thinking that it will be downright criminal if we don’t see the sense of awe and imagination of the Galaxy games translated in a Mario movie. Not to mention Galaxy 1 actually has a story and it’s the best of mainline Mario. Flesh out Rosalina’s backstory and motives in the game and you could have a truly great movie character there. Basically, I’m saying adapt Mario Galaxy for the sequel Nintendo/Illumination!
