RichWS
Universal has had an interesting year so far: Safe House and Contraband perform well, with The Lorax set to do very well. The flip side is Big Miracle and Wanderlust.

Incepted
True. They still have their Ace in the hole for summer with Bourne Legacy.Which has a good chance of flopping. I hope they've kept the budget down. I hope it's massive though.
ecstasy
OSCAR has zero impact this year..WTF?yep. But those films that got the Oscar bump last year like Black Swan, Kings Speech, Fighter had a full head of steam going into awards season. These films are pretty much doing what they were gonna do anyway. The Descendants had already amassed a great deal of money prior to the Oscars.

ecstasy
Still.. Oscar movie's this year have been very disapointing BO wise...Compared to other yearsYeah you're right. I guess it's just the films. Maybe that's why 2011 as a whole was so underwhelming, lol.
Incepted
I don't speak for everyone but surely last years Oscar movies were a lot more appealing to watch just for watchings sake and not quality?
forg
Last year the "Oscar movies" have appealing leads: Colin Firth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale. This year the big winners The Artist and Hugo have unknown leads and concepts that are not that appealing to mainstream audiences. Although last year''s Black Swan success really surprised given the type of film it is Edited March 1, 2012 by forg
