AniNate
Relating to Spot (implying I mentioned him in the hidden contents isn't a spoiler, right?), I don't think it's accurate to say he's been characterized exactly like a dog. He has the mannerisms of a dog but still appears to have the intelligence of a human child and somewhat more emotional maturity. goldenstate5
Haha nah, it's widely known the emotional heartbeat of the story lies between the two. Movie becomes more and more interesting the more vague details I hear about it.
AniNate
I think that kind of mix of primal behavior and sincere character beats would only be possible with a movie like this. You can't really take an intelligent dog as seriously as a human with some dog-like behavioral patterns. Just look to Up to see what I mean. Ethan Hunt
This is kinda reminding me of Monster's Inc.
Samarus
Here in Germany, there's an embargo on reviews for this movie right up until the day of its release. Not a good sign tbh.
goldenstate5
...in Germany. Disney really only cares about the American critics.

AniNate
The movie's public premiere is at the Rex on the 14th. I seriously doubt they're going to be able to keep a lid on reactions
goldenstate5
Right. Full press media screenings, however, have yet to occur. (we're still a few weeks out) Inside Out had the Cannes Film Festiva debut to eek out very early reviews, but there's none at this time to do that sort of thing. I'd have to imagine that if the film is good (and that's what I'm hearing), the second the press gets to see it the embargo will drop. That could be prior, but most likely after the 14th. With tracking like that, I imagine Disney is in no rush to sell the film as hard as they had to with IO.

Giesi
http://www.the-numbers.com/news/209140830-2015-Preview-November Numbers predicts $225m for TGD, but no way it ends up grossing less than Wall-E adjusted. I'm going with $280-$320m.
AniNate
I'd be shocked if they kept the budget within that estimate
goldenstate5
...WALL-E didn't have nearly as much of a troubled history as Cars 2 or Brave. Not sure why he mentioned that. Hell, Inside Out had worse problems.
AniNate
They did completely rewrite the third act at the last minute (which imo was very much to the film's benefit)
goldenstate5
Yeah, but it was just switching two character's positions around. It didn't cause a severe delay and Stanton was never plausible to be fired. I guess what I'm saying is that WALL-E isn't the first film I think of when it comes to Pixar movies with troubled productions. Hell, Ratatouille is the ultimate "saved from the fire" Pixar movie outside of TS1. Edited November 1, 2015 by goldenstate5
AniNate
Yeah, I was just going off on a tangent. But you could probably point to any Pixar movie and say its production was troubled at some point. They're just able to keep a lid on it when they stick with the director
