I'll be watching your verdict on MEWcina with great interest

I may have overhyped myself with the pre release material's depiction of her as a cynical functioning alcoholic who takes no shit and will destroy you with snark

I pray you’re merciful on Medusa. It really deviates from the origin.

I know that going in so I'm not gonna take issue with that. You've been upfront about it.

Spoiler

She's more depressed and mad than necessarily snarky.

She gets pretty scary in a section 2/3rds of the way in so there's that.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness
We fought for these ideals we shouldn’t settle for less
These are wise words, enterprising men quote 'em
Don’t act surprised, you guys, 'cause I wrote 'em

Spoiler

It must be nice,

“the Packer for the other team”

Clearly this is just an exaggeration of political propaganda

I always like to describe Jarek as if Packer is Trump then he is * insert European far-right populist here *

Spoiler

the head of a deformed humanoid (with scales on his forehead similar to that of a Scavenger), the upper body of a gorilla, the limb of a lion as one leg and a metal hook as the other, the back of a stegosaurus and the tail of a crocodile

Ok, who let cookie write after he went on an acid trip at a zoo

Spoiler

Well actually I can't say a thought that popped into mind in that scene because of *redacted*

But I knew there was a bug orgy originally written in at some point, so I figured that scene stemmed from that

Spoiler

Jarek is basically a combination of Boyd Holbrook and Jeffrey Dean Morgan's characters in PoE 2

One half xenophobic nationalist demagogue, one half smirking shitstain

Spoiler

Also that is a sudden evolution into Super Saiyan

Spoiler

Sal reveals in quick flashbacks that she had actually been siding with Jarek since the beginning, revealing she tried derailing Lucina and Arthur’s investigation at multiple points (she struck Arthur and stole the rock, the Dominian she killed was a patsy meant to distract Lucina from Sunn’s kidnapping, and she was the one who leaked the supposed perpetrators to Jarek).

I feel like this sudden yet inevitable (and also fairly telegraphed) betrayal in a space opera by a trusted confidant and sibling figure of a protagonist feels awfully familiar

Spoiler

*We cut to Banes in front of a top-of-the-line encrypted hologram machine in a personal bolt-hole, using it to contact Markor and Saracino at different intervals*

*Cut to Banes and Shepard confronting Saracino. As Shepard goes to call in what Saracino had told them, Banes walks up to Saracino and hands him a small pistol. “You know what you have to do” Banes whispers in Saracino’s ear. Saracino looks at Banes with recognition and nods*

*Cut to the alleys of Andromache, Banes catches up to the Shepard/Markor standoff. With a grim look, he pulls his gun without hesitation and aims at Markor from behind to shoot to kill*

Ah, that is why it does
