Heretic
Hobbit tickets went on sale today. Also, looking at Gravity, it's virtually sold out the whole weekend already at the BFI IMAX. I expect pretty big numbers next weekend.

SchumacherFTW
Hobbit tickets went on sale today. Also, looking at Gravity, it's virtually sold out the whole weekend already at the BFI IMAX. I expect pretty big numbers next weekend. What's more impressive with Gravity is that there are NO good seats at ANY evening shows BAR NONE. It's going to sell out all shows in its 2 week run at this rate.
zackzack
Gravity should open to about £5M and close with £30M+ by February. With HOBBIT, WALTER MITTY, ANCHORMAN, WALKING WITH DINOS - all vying for box office dominance? GRAVITY has its hands full. But why Warner didn't release this early October in UK..??? zackzack
What do you mean no significant increase? That's 70% on Friday! Yea, but THOR 1 has burnt a lot of the excitement over longer period before 1st Friday. THOR 1 opened on Monday.
SchumacherFTW
Yea, but THOR 1 has burnt a lot of the excitement over longerperiod before 1st Friday. THOR 1 opened on Monday. It was an extra day, on easter Monday. All things considered, it's going to have a 5 day weekend around 50 to 60 % higher than Thor's opening 6 day. That is a LONG way from being a disappointment. Heretic
Next weekend? CF doesn't open till the 11th in the UK, which is a Monday. Thor 2 should be fine next weekend. Next weekend, Gravity opens. CF doesn't open until the 21st, which is a Thursday. Nonetheless, Thor will fall hard because it's going from a 5 day opening to a 3 day weekend, and it'll lose some IMAX shows to Gravity. Third weekend it will probably lose all IMAX screens to Gravity in a similar vein in which Men in Black 3 lost them all to Prometheus in its 3rd weekend after sharing on the second last summer.
