Heretic
It should have really been released in 2D as well, as lots of people don't care about 3D anymore. Hopefully, Sony/Screen Gems will take this into account for the final film, and hopefully spend a bit more on the promotion.Yeah. 3D is extremely unpopular now. Whenever there's a film with 2D and 3D options, 3D is always empty, and 2D is the only format making the money.
PhilipJ2001
yeah i've been noticing that 3D is dying very quickly.. at my nearest odeon (9 screens) Paranorman started off with the same number of 2D and 3D shows, but after the first week they knocked the 3D down to just the weekend. This week the 3D has one show a day on Saturday, Sunday and Cheap Tuesday whereas the 2D has 3 shows a day on Sat, Sun & Tues as well as one show a day every other day. and it's not a lack of 3D screens as most of them there have 3D capability and the only competition is Resident Evil.Brave is also still showing but only in 2D, the 3D went weeks ago. lab276
I hope it's like that in Australia too.
Jonwo
£5-6m would be great for Taken 2 but won't have legs. I'm expecting a 60% drop next week. I like 3D but it has to worth the money, I find animated films and certain action films are great in 3D.
Heretic
I imagine Taken 2 should at least match Fridays number today which means it'll be over £5m already. Should do minimum £6m I think.
The Dark Alfred
Damn, the crap films are really breaking out this year, Magic Mike, Ted and worst of all Taken 2. Saturday is up minimum 20%, looking over £2m for sure. Nice increase for Looper, £0.5m, and Sinister is holding strong, it didn't drop, slight increase for a roughly £0.475m Sat. Paranorman overtook Perks. Brave had a huge Saturday as well.
lab276
Ted's great, what're talking about?
The Dark Alfred
No, Ted was ok, but it's a bit overrated, it's nowhere near as funny as Hangover or Bridesmaids. As a Family Guy fan, I expected more.
Heretic
Wow. Looking like a fantastic weekend for most films. So, Taken should be heading for around £6.5m ($10.5m) then! Insane.
Heretic
If Taken increased at least 20% from the Friday £2m number, that means minimum £2.4m.That's £0.1m away from The Avengers' opening Thursday.
The Dark Alfred
Yep, it's at £2.2 and still some late shows are being counted. Edited October 7, 2012 by The Dark Alfred
Jonwo
The numbers for Taken 2 are very good, above my expectations. Sunday will drop but a £1.5-1.6m Sunday would put it at roughly £6.8-6.9m four days and £5.7m for the three day weekend. I imagine even with a 60-65% drop it could still be number one ahead of Hotel Transylvania and Madagascar 3 previews but depends how they perform. What are we thinking for Taken 2's final total? I think it'll land in the £16-17m as it faces PA4 in a week and a half then Skyfall, £20m is probably unlikely unless it has good drops. JCS
Wow, can't wait for this weekend's grosses, huge weekend!Taken 2 should finish around £16M yes, cannot see near £20M for it.
RthDeadWov
Taken2 Sat should be just short of gbp2.5m, so Fri-Sat close 4.5m
Heretic
Absolutely insane!Could mean a £7m ($11.3m) opening.
The Toymaker
I can't wait next weekend to see how hard it drops. I want it to drop hard but I want it to do well. I just don't want to see another string of Taken movies, and if it does well, there obviously will be more despite what Neeson said. Money talks, unfortunately. SchumacherFTW
I didn't have any issues with Taken 2 outside of the cuts made to the final few fights. They made the main fight confusing at the end. Apart from that it delivered for me. Was busy this morning too, about 50 people before midday!
