Friday

x.1701 Dr Strange 2(1.05 million Cdn)

basically at this point whereas Thor and DS had seat counts between 6-8 thousand, Adam is around 1400 seats sold at this time, so a bit of a contrast there.

Disclaimer-I may....just may have messed up yesterdays comps. I was doing them today and saying "this isn't right"....I did yesterdays comps using Black Panther Numbers accidently....heh....ooops.

THESE numbers are Black Adam, I may have to go back and revise the Comps from yesterday just for continuity-so yea if these numbers seem way off from yesterday, that's why (and gives you an idea of how BP is doing in comparison at its stage)

So, Im gonna estimate a take for Black Adam in Canada OD of of 1.5 cdn? Seemed at my count to hover around a quarterish (bit less) of Dr Strange 2 which ended up doing 6.2. Will be using that as a comp for Black Panther and others going forward.

Sorry about the missed comps for BA and DS2, I don't have a lot of comps 14 days out, trying to fix that with more movies as I go along. Still working on getting my lists down :)

In a busy time these days. Here's Thursdays numbers, no comps (just literally not having the time)

Black Panther 2

Nov 10 (T-1 Thurs)

SW/Toronto Ontario

  # theatre #show Seats Sold Seats Rem Ttl seat Percent
Thurs 20 135 9540 31156 40696 0.2344

Just a quick not math look at comparables, BP 2 is about 2 thousand behind Thor 4 at same time and about 3 thousand behind Dr Strange 2. Again sorry, will try and get more formal comps possible and Friday later.

Black Panther 2 (no comps due to time constraints)

Nov 11

SW/Toronto Ontario

  # theatre #show Seats Sold Seats Rem Ttl seat Percent
Thurs
Fri 20 400 12973 51658 64631 0.2007

Again, trying to calculate all the numbers ect, but BP2 for Friday is showing about 4 thousand above Thor 4, and is about Dead even with Dr Strange 2, and honestly about 10000 about Black Adam at same time.

Black Panther 2 (no direct comps)

Nov 11

SW/Toronto Ontario

  # theatre #show Seats Sold Seats Rem Ttl seat Percent

Fri 20 400 16106 51658 66608

0.2418

No time for final Thurs, this will probably be final count for Friday, I have stuff to do tomorrow and probably wont get a better count.

Again unoffical comps-is selling about 7000 more than Thor4, 3000 More than Dr Strange too-big boost for Friday sales recently it seems.

TBH I myself is trying to solve this matter. Numbers I have pulled are from comScore. As far as I remember TFA USA gross is ~$840M + CAN ~$95M to make it $936M. Don't think they will be adding US$ with CAN$.

Actually I was once told that this is in fact the case that CAN$ is directly added to US$, which I honestly didn't believe. I asked RTH about it few years back, he also said its US$. Unfortunately I don't have direct access at the moment, so I can't check in detail.

I am adding the top grossers list, same I have posted in first page.

  Reveal hidden contents

My only/biggest rationale for my number being US$ is because there are many late 2000s and early 2000s film in the list due to better exchange rate. Like The Avengers is almost same as IW, despite US gross being 10% higher. or Avatar bigger than TFA

@Agafin the numbers are in fact CAN $.

So DOM is US$ + CAN$. Pretty stupid, but it is what it is.

Avatar 2

Calgary AB Canada

Thurs Dec 15

  # theatre #show Seats Sold Seats Rem Ttl seat Percent
Thurs 8 36 223 6731 6954 0.0320

So yes I bit the biscuit and am doing 3 Canadian cities on a rotating basis. Im starting with Calgary today, next will be Toronto tomorrow, and Montreal on Thurs. I will then come back to Calgary with a update from last take, and so forth with the other cities.

For my sanity I am doing Thurs ONLY right now, there will be no comps, just pretty much data. Fridays I will work on when are within a week or so of the opening.

I am doing this for avatar only. If I actually am okay with this, I may carry this idea to other movies to get a more Canada wide look.

Hopefully I do not end up saying:

There is a Lady/Gent who I believe covers Vancouver/BC? I didn't want to step on toes in that case. I'll happily do Vancouver if BC isn't being covered, I seem to remember there is someone who does (unless my memory is bad lol)?

So-just doing Montreal I was only being given 4 theatres for the area, If I want to do quebec proper I may have to do more breaking down, but I figured I would use Montreal, and throw in Halifax (Nova Scotia), Moncton (New Brunswick) and St Johns (New Foundland)

Still in the early testing phases here, but this gives us an East of Ontario look.

Montreal, Halifax, Moncton, St Johns

Thurs Dec 15 (taken Nov 24) No Comps

  # theatre #show Seats Sold Seats Rem Ttl seat Percent
montreal 4 19 427 4634 5061 0.0843
Halifax NS 2 8 174 2118 2992 0.0759
Mon NB 1 2 0 520 520 0
St Jon NF 1 4 23 961 984 0.0233

Im assuming as we get closer slowly more seats will show up at these theatres. Will have my first Calgary AB update tomorrow (and I am willing to do Vancouver if person who covers that area is alright with it-but again, no toe stepping ;) )
