I'm pretty sure something similar happened with The Mule, held back until release. I saw a critic for Variety/Ebert's site on twitter asking about trying to get a screening but complaining WB is tricky lately. Regardless of quality, this probably wasn't gonna be an awards play anyway but still bizarre.

Skimmed through a lot of them, seems it’ll be similar critic wise to The Mule. Definitely more appeal to older critics and Eastwood-heads so I’m hyped.

So far reviews seems a little worse than the Mule.

 

Expect tho the trailer was already flat and off tone (something that lots of reviews pointed, even positive ones).

55 average on metacritic with 16 reviews

 

It have some positives to enter on RT so let's see if it can rebound, it's very bad there. On metacritic is mixed but way better at least.

You're cracking jokes, but I fail to see how a movie would not be improved by Idina Menzel singing Material Girl.
