juni78ukr
Lol. In first 7 theaters reported MoS ans MU had the same number admissions. 4952 But MOS is well ahead in gross. $54.7k vs $37.8k.
Sam
Wow, the difference in ticket prices must be really big. Sucks for MU then.
A Marvel Fanboy
Must be children tickets.
juni78ukr
Update №2: 31 theaters reported Man of Steel $240.4k Monsters University $181.9k Now You See Me $82.3k Kokowaah2 $8.1k
Sam
So MOS might pull out the win in dollars even with same/less tickets after all. Base on those numbers, what are your predictions for OD, juni?
juni78ukr
Too early to tell much. Right now it looks like around $2m OD for Man of Steel and $1.5-1.6m for Monsters University. Still the trend might be reversed.
Sam
Thanks juni If MOS had a $2M OD, then the 4-day OW would definitely be higher than what Kinometro predicted.
juni78ukr
Brave last year had 5.4 weekend multiplyer. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter around 5. I think we can already rule out any significant breakout for both MoS and MU. Both will have solids start but nothing exceptional. juni78ukr
With around a third of theaters reported Man of Steel 753k Monsters University 628k
A Marvel Fanboy
So at least MoS wins. Though both meh.
Sam
Good for both it seems. MOS is looking to be around 2.2M OD or more, right? And thanks for the numbers Juni Edited June 21, 2013 by Sam
juni78ukr
Actually new numbers give Monsters University 1550 screens vs 1450 for Man of Steel. Not 1500 vs 1700 as reported earlier. On Rentrak it's 777 theaters vs 982. So Monsters University still can catch Man of Steel. Maybe even pull ahead. With last two updates per theater average also dropped quite a lot.

Leyla
Actually new numbers give Monsters University 1550 screens vs 1450 for Man of Steel. Not 1500 vs 1700 as reported earlier. juni78ukr
Official estimates should be in a hour or two. As expected Man of Steel is doing much better in big cities. So with more theaters reported per theater average fell really hard. By now Monsters University pulled ahead with 1.31m fron 765 theaters out of 982. Man of Steel grossed 1.28m from 703 theaters out of 777. 214k admissions for Monsters University vs 154k for Man of Steel. You see how hard it fell. So my initial projections for Monster University with 1.5-1.6m were right. I expected that Man of Steel with have more screen and overestimated it last night. Only around 1.35-1.4m OD and around 7m OW. Edited June 21, 2013 by juni78ukr
Sam
Thanks for the update Juni Wow, look at that difference in admissions: 214k vs 154k. Yet very close in gross. 7M OW for MOS would be a bit better than Kinometro prediction, and looking good for about 15M total.
