And for several days we have simply terrific weather in Ukraine and many regions of Central Russia. In last two days tempreature records have fallen in Moscow. It's hot like in the middle of summer. People are going outside. Many have houses in rural areas and they use small plots of land there for growing fruit and vegetables. That could be another reason for such huge drops and low grosses of new releases.
Fullbuster
People are too pessimistic there, but the huge growth of the last years prove I'm right to be optimistic
juni78ukr
Those long May holidays in Russia are traditionally famous for going outside, out of the city. And such a good weather right now. It couldn't have been better for holidays. Not so good for movies, of course. It's still April and in my city some people are going to the sea for swimming and bathing. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. It's the same here, we have 4 days holiday now and the capital is half empty. But using that logic isn't it not so bad to open next weekend, so many people are in the city, even if Saturday is officaly work day. [if it's the same as here, most people are out of the office by 2-3 pm, nobody waits for 5 or 6.]

They are most successful in Summer thanks to the fact that its school holidays.Good weather in Europe in Spring can hurt a movie.

In summer, the hottest days of the year. This weather crap is a total non-sense.It's a common knowledge in Europe, particularly in spring. You see box office numbers for Thursday and Friday. The whole market suddenly died. Battleship sunk, Safe is below last Statham action flicks, Pirates and Street Dance 2 are dead on arrival. Just look at weekend prediction from kinometro. Everything is so much below predicted numbers. Edited April 28, 2012 by juni78ukr

juni78ukr
No foreign comedy or pure drama in that list. Probably even in top100. No romantic films without vampires. No musicals. Action, animation, fantasy and sometimes sci-fi.

Fullbuster
Most movies have action, romance and comedy in a certain measure. Superhero movies for me are where the protagonist wears a funny costume. You know, we remarked something with TA in many countries : it doesn't appeal to comics fan only, but families with kids too, and action-loving people, so it targets a larger audience. You proved Russians aren't big fans of SH movie, it's reality, but The Avengers will surpass the traditional SH movies in Russia because it's more than a SH movie, it's more ambitious too.
