Yeah, movies like Schulmädchenreport are probably more exploitation than education, and there are dozens and dozens of them... 😶

They weren't called that though - and so many of them did well...

Germans like 3 things:

1) Bad Comedys.

2) Bad Sex movies.
3) Bad animated movies.

Thats it. Thats literally it.

Don't be that harsch the top 23 movies last decade are Intouchables, The Force Awakens and Skyfall. We don't look at the next 2 / 3 movies then Spectre, we don't look at #8 (Minions) and then Frozen II and Ice Age 4...

The Top 10 in the decade before that were HP1, LOTR 1, Schuh des Manitu, Avatar, LOTR 2, LOTR 3, HP 2, (T)raumschiff Surprise, Ice Age 2 and Ice Age 3 (after that are Finding Nemo, HP 4, Ice Age, Pirates of the Caribbean 2, HP5). Fantasy, Sci-Fi and comedy (and to be honest I kinda like both Schuh des Manitu and (T)raumschriff Surprise).

Was a joke, but while its right that (epic) Fantasy movies and franchises like James Bond and Star Wars perform really well here usually, it is true that our fellow countrymen seem to have an affection for the kind of movies ive listed.

Minions is doing really well - TGM had a 180k 4th weekend and a total of 1911k. Also 120k admissions over the weekdays would be really strong.

Thor is doing okay - I guess, but total won't be pretty - it probably should get to 1.5m

3rd Wend: 150k => Total 1170k

3rd Wdays: 50k => 1220k

4th Wend: 80k => 1300k

4th Wdays: 30k => 1330k

5th Wend: 50k => 1380k

5th Wdays: 15k => 1395k

6th Wend: 35k => 1430k

6th Wdays: 10k => 1440k (above Thor 2)

7th Wend: 25k => 1465k

7th Wdays: 5k => 1470k

8th Wend: 15k => 1485k (above Thor 3)

8th Wdays: 2.5k => 1487.5k

9th Wend: 7.5k => 1495k

I hope the weekdays will be as good as anticipated in the Insidekino forecast since I just took those. And I guess (and hope) the WE numbers could be better than predicted in the first trend.

I think they will come in weaker. maybe not by much for Minions, that franchise seems to be surprisingly heat resistant.

maybe, with rising temperatures, it's getting so hot that even swimming gets tedious, and suddenly an air-conditioned cinema seems like a good idea :D

I know for a fact that the hotter it gets, the less beer gets bought; there's an optimum temperature range for beergardens and if it gets too hot, business drops again.

Is Germany also suffering the heatwave? I was looking at weather forecast in Germany, there seem quite normal and some showers on Saturday across the country.

A typical summer weekend, and we're deep in franchise-land as the first "original" release came in at #7 … while the latest Thor movie struggles on ist way to maybe 1,5mil total, Top Gun Maverick had an astonishing hold (once again) and should reach about 3mil total or more - as do the Minions.

Next weekend: One more family release, DC League of Super Pets might see some problems overcoming the Minions' popularity, but #3 for the weekend might be possible. Weather predictions show a so-so trend, not too bad for the movies anyway.

Anime are usually one night event. That says that Jujutsu Kaisen earned more than Demon Slayer which was a general release in a single day.

Mathematically, OD >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> OW >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> lifetime.

For years, I have been trying to know why Distributor do not change this.

But, problem is that Theatre Chains aren't ready to placed shows and perhaps Rights owner aren't big enough to manage/convince. And that's the reason why I want Sony to directly handle anime film distribution as they do in South America.

...Gone are the days, when anime film used to earned 3M admits in Germany [I am talking about Pokemon The First Movie, distributed by Warner Bros]
