el sid
Since IndustriousAngel is in China and no one has posted it so far ....That's the first trend: -Looking good for Zootopia with 550-675k admissions and WOM should help too -the second place goes to Der geilste Tag with 300k -Deadpool should be in third with 190k and estimated 2.24M admissions till Sunday -The Oscar-winning films The Revenant (80k) and Spotlight (60k) will increase -Dirty Grandpa is still holding well with 110k moviegoers this weekend and will be close to 1m admissions after this weekend -I see no weekend estimate for Hail, Caesar! but with a Thursday number of ca. 6k, it should hold well too -And finally we have two other bigger new releases: Anne Frank which will have a quite nice start (despite mediocre reviews) with around 60k admissions and 13 Hours: The Secret Soldier of Benghazi which struggles with only around 4.5k admissions yesterday. So overall a (very) good weekend! Edited March 4, 2016 by el sid

el sid
14 hours ago, Poseidon said: Nice start for Anne Frank? It's a disaster on more than 500 screens. Hoppla, you are absolutely right! It indeed has 525 screens. I didn't look for its number of screens and only saw that it got one of the smallest cinema halls in „my“ theaters. I think that's the normal case: many screens but (very) small cinema halls given that many other films will attract more moviegoers. But still that's really a bad start. By the way Zootopia has 622 screens and 13Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi 247 screens (still too many as it seems). No second trend so far, sorry. Edit: Second trend from Mark G./insidekino.de. Everything improved :). Zootopia: 575-700k Der geilste Tag: 310k Deapool: 200k Dirty Grandpa: 125k The Revenant: 85k Das Tagebuch der Anne Frank: 65k Spotlight: 60k Bibi & Tina: 50k 13 Hours: 50k Hail, Caesar: 45k Edited March 5, 2016 by el sid
Aristis
And the third trend looks even better for Zoomania: 660-750K admissions for the weekend (still a very high range especially for sunday) Most of the other stuff is going down a bit but Anne Frank is now at 70K (still embarrassing PTA) Should have good drops when it can hold many cinemas.
George Parr
Official weekend estimates (as always, from insidekino): Zootopia / Zoomania: 690k for the weekend, 715k including previews Der geilste Tag: 295k Deadpool: 195k Dirty Grandpa: 125k The Revenant: 80k Tagebuch der Anne Frank: 80k That's the biggest opening for a Disney cgi-animated movie, beating Frozen's 654k (with previews as well).

IndustriousAngel
Hey I'm just back and the first trend is online at insidekino! #1: Zootopia - 500k (<30%) #2: Der geilste Tag - 200k (-30%) #3: Deadpool - 100k (-50%, ouch) after the strong last weekend some major drops all around, and LHF as the best opener with less than 100k doesn't really save the weekend.

Aristis
If this numbers are true the first Hobbit made 6.560.480 in its actual run and 6.642.047 as a whole... That would be about 80k with the two further showtimes. The second Hobbit made 6.005.724 first and 6.098.029 as a whole which would be over 90k If anybody wants to check I used the "Rekordejagd 2012/2013" on InsideKino for the initial run and a yearly chart (again InsideKino) for the whole run. Should be correct numbers but it's strange that TH2 would have made more in one re-release than TH1 in two... But if that numbers are correct SW could have a chance of becoming the most successfull movie (Yet Intouchables with 9.140.334). Will only need 140k to 160k admissions. I'm not totally convinced that SW will hit 9M while I hope so.

George Parr
Yeah, apparently the Sunday was quite weak from the afternoon on. Maybe the three state elections & their coverage had a bit of an impact.

Let's hope it gets better soon, so on to the next weekend: Kung Fu Panda 3 is the widest opener; while I don't feel any buzz it should still come in ahead of Zootopia. Room will finally get its arthouse release, I think we'll see a nice PTA there! Allegiant should open to about 200k, so at least Top3. Weather conditions seem not too good for the weekend which always helps admissions, so we might see some nice drops after last weekend's debacle.
