Giesi
I kind of expected decreasing numbers, the weather around here is fabulous. And it's really interesting to see that no superhero movie can break out in Germany, I mean something like 5M+ adm.

And it's really interesting to see that no superhero movie can break out in Germany, I mean something like 5M+ adm. Well, Spiderman had more than 5M admissions (5.186.528) But yeah, would have been strange if the prediction would have hold. We have to expect better weather now - it seems like in May there could occur something like summer temperatures. I wonder why weather is such a big issue in Germany whereas in other countries it isn't. Maybe Germans love being outside? But maybe with this (rather) low opening (which is still more than doubling the former CA) next week there will be a good hold. Something like 25% drop. Aristis
CA:CW 600k (went up a bit from former estimates, while JB and Zoo dropped, a good sign for the First Avenger ) Even more impressive considering that the first movie made 339.797 admissions in its entire run... TJB 205 (1.19M admissions cume) -43% HtbS 80k -37% Zoo 60k -50% The good weather killed it this weekend... But Family-Movies rise and fall with the weather, so there could be an increase again next weekend Edited May 2, 2016 by Aristis
George Parr
It's obviously a bit early for an accurate weather-prediction, but right now it looks like the next weekend will have even better weather, with sun all around and over 20° everywhere. Funnily enough, the actual weekend of Civil War was slightly behind the one BvS had (545k against ~555k), though that's only because Civil War started a day earlier.
IndustriousAngel
Yep, with good weather next weekend, and Angry Birds the weekend after, JB's chances at 3mil are gone, as are Zoo's at 4mil I guess.

Civil War didn't start a day earlier than BvS. Both started on a thursday with previews on wednesday evening like almost every big release here in Germany. BvS start was 630,432 incl. 75,542 previews and the estimate for CW is 600,000 incl. 55,000 previews.

CW went up with the last estimate even with to warm weather so it is not that strong affected by the weather. It will depend on the film itself, if German audiences like it... It won't have as bad legs as BvS. I think 2M should happen.

I don't know how big Easter is in Germany but if the moviegoing habits are any similar to UK and US, movies released on Easter weekend are very frontloaded. I doubt CA3 legs will be so bad. Mhm, or the * stood for something else, e.g. estimates, that could be true as well. I'd disagree with "every big release" though, Star Wars only started Thursday after midnight
HH84
The 5th is a national holiday and on friday most schools are out and a lot of people take the friday of, to have a long weekend. The 15th and 16th are also national holidays and the 26th is a holiday in some areas. These holidays should also help CW's legs.

They changed that a couple of years ago. That's why I wrote "almost every big release" SW7 and AOU are the only ones from last year that I can remember besides kids movies, which sometimes have previews the sunday before release. I know what things are like in Germany, I am from Germany In the past, a movie that had a * next to it often indicated something being different than normal, like the total mentioned having an additional day (those lists aren't always just about the weekend numbers after all), hence my thought of CW having an additional day, as it was the only movie on the list to have it. That it only refers to the total being an estimate, is something I only realised a bit later. I'm not sure if the holiday will help all that much. Sure, it's three days off, plus another bridge-day that many people take off as well, but we are looking at the first really great weekend in terms of weather for the entire country. No "sun and 15 degrees" like it was in a sizeable part of the country this weekend, it is likely heading for 20+ everywhere. Especially the first weekend with great weather has always a big impact. Good thing, they released it a week earlier here. Regarding the previews: For some reason "Bad Neighbors 2" is getting midnights here. Normally only huge blockbusters like LOTR, HP or SW get those. Kinda odd. Drops were bad all around the chart but BvS plummeting >70% are really bad. Next weekend: Neighbors 2 should do reasonably well (say, 250k) given that there's no competition for it. With no big releases to take away admissions, holdovers should see better drops (I hooope …), and with an additional holiday, overall business is supposed to pick up a little (I think the Thu holiday is the reason N2 gets Wed midnights)
