George Parr
Thirs trend is up, things look a bit better again: #1 Bullyparade 265k #2 Anabelle 2 125k #3 Killer's Bodyguard 110k #4 Happy Family 80k #5 DM3 70k #6 Grießnockerlaffäre 70k (that's almost +100%!) #7 Atomic Blonde 55k #8 Jugend ohne Gott 55k #9 Emoji 47.5k #10 Ostwind 3 42.5k Of these ten movies only two are down from last weekend. One is a new release, so seven movies will see an increase. Edited September 3, 2017 by George Parr
IndustriousAngel
Bullyparade came in a little lower but the other releases were mostly spot-on. In Austria we had the same Top3, also with nice increases.

Bullyparade and Valerian crossed 1mil total; Grießnockerlaffäre is now the most successful of the franchise (not a given for part 4). Ostwind 3 is also showing some legs and should reach the million. Next weekend: Cruise starrer American Made starts with little noise (haven't seen a single trailer for it); Watson starrer The Circle will not do much better, so I guess Bullyparade will stay on top for a 4th weekend but the openers should at least battle for #2. Also opening: My Cousin Rachel and french production Paris Pieds Nus.
IndustriousAngel
Estimates tomorrow but American Made looks like an instant flop atm; I hadn't thought a Tom Cruise starrer could go that low ... In other news, August numbers for Austria are in and as in Germany, those were some ugly weeks for the boxoffice. Add the equally bad July and we're steering towards the worst 3rd quarter in history if there doesn't happen some kind of September miracle. Which I doubt. el sid
Some Thursday estimates from insidekino.de/forum: New releases: Barry Seal / American Made: 14k (released in 470 theaters, good reviews mostly between 6-8/10, one negative review and one critic rated it 10/10) – that's ca. on a par with the estimate for Hitman's Bodyguard last week, of course that number is not very good but let's see how it evolves, it could have come worse from the level of buzz a few days ago The Circle (2017): 12k (299, modest reviews) – in every report AM and The Circle were pretty much neck and neck An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power: 1.5k (135, overall quite good reviews) No estimates for the other new films: Die Pfefferkörner und der Fluch des schwarzen Königs: ?k (414, mixed reviews between 4 and 8/10) Die Migrantigen: ?k (an Austrian comedy, 87, ok and good reviews) My Cousin Rachel: ?k (60-70, good reviews between 6-10/10) Lost in Paris / Paris Pieds Nus / Barfuß in Paris: ?k (a French comedy, 50-60, good reviews) On the Milky Road: ?k (ca. 60, mixed reviews between 4-8/10) Holdovers (all holdovers were underestimated last week, maybe this week it's the same): Bullyparade: 23k (actuals last Thursday 40k) The Hitman's Bodyguard: 8.5k (17k) Annabelle 2: 9k (18k) Grießnockerlaffäre: 8.5k (7.5k estimated) – very good Jugend ohne Gott: 6k (10k) – a better hold than I would have guessed 3

To be honest, its the movies that are just not as appealing in comparison with the last years. On the other hand, like the summer BO in the US, next year will probably see some serious uptickts in yearly comparisons
el sid
The first trend (insidekino.de): #1 Bullyparade 175k (actuals yesterday 22k, last Thursday 40k) #2 Barry Seal: 135k (16k new) #3 The Circle 125k (15k new) #4 Annabelle 2 75k (10.5k yesterday, last Thursday 18k) #5 Die Pfefferkörner 65k (6k new) #6 Hitman's Bodyguard (8.5k yesterday, last Thursday 17k), DM3 and Happy Family could each reach 60k ... An Inconvenient Sequel 12.5k (1.5k yesterday) No numbers for the other new releases (so far) which were not even in the Top 20 yesterday. Which is a little bit frustrating given that all films got pretty good reviews. Edited September 8, 2017 by el sid
IndustriousAngel
Both big openers have preview numbers included but should stay above 100k for the weekend even without, not that bad ... the three worst Tom Cruise releases in Germany each had about 500k admissions total so American Made (german title: Barry Seal) has a slight chance at not becoming the lowest one. MinaTakla
The German box office thread is one of the best in the international forum. It is consistently updated and managed. Well done guys! Am thinking of opening a thread for the Switzerland box office btw, it's a good market that aligns with France and Germany in many cases. BOM updates it weekly so numbers will be available. Just hope to find time to maintain it. Hopefully soon.

American Made had a disappointing PTA and will probably become the lowest grossing Cruise movie ever. Bullyparade crossed 1,5mil total - halfway to blockbuster status but at this point even 2mil seem like a stretch. The two positive news are that Despicable Me 3 still has some legs, and Grießnockerlaffäre is destroying the series' hitherto rather stable totals - cool! Next weekend: Three interesting releases - Aronofsky's mother! and Soderbergh's Logan Lucky will not make much of a splash (commercial-wise), but domestic comedy High Society should take #1, especially as it's direct competition for Bullyparade. Overall not a weekend for big numbers, once more …
IndustriousAngel
First weekend estimates and we get a double lead for domestic comedies: #1: High Society - 140k admissions (including quite a few previews but should stay >110k) #2: Bullyparade - 100k #3: Circle - 90k (-10%, very nice) #4: Logan Lucky - 95k (also incl. previews) #5: mother! - 75k, not bad #6: American Made - 70k (-37%) Rather weak overall weekend but not a disaster.
miketheavenger
September should at least end on a rather strong note with Kingsman 2 and IT, even though neither are going to be monsters. I would be very happy with 1m admissions for both of them.
