At that rate, Paw Patrol might reach 1mil total! That's also the goal for local crime comedy Kaiserschmarrndrama which is now lagging the predecessor by about 100k (not bad considering reduced capacities) but is still on course for 7 digits. And every release in the Top20 had >10k admissions, not a given on August weekends and a further hint that the post-Covid-market is more well-balanced than the pre-Covid one. In Austria, results were pretty much the same as in Germany, with Kaiserschmarrndrama doing about 50% better once more. (It was already at 100k in Austria after last Sunday …) Next weekend: Killer's Bodyguard 2 … Candyman … The Father … Big Foot Family … Reminiscence … a lot of mid-sized releases for everyone but nothing for a new #1 I'd say (even #2 might be hard); at least weather should stay movie-friendly so we should see a very strong overall weekend once more! 4
IndustriousAngel
First estimates have no opener in the Top5 - that's really worse than expected, Killer's Bodyguard 2 ist the best with only 40k admissions ... Paw Patrol remains in #1 with 200k admissions for the weekend and Kaiserschmarrndrama #2 with >100k once more. 1

IndustriousAngel
actuals tomorrow but it's been, again, a super weekend for holdovers, with numbers nearly identical to last weekend. Capacities are still not at maximum and slowly growing, so there should have been a slightly lower per-show-average counterbalanced by more shows. But in Austria we've seen increases this weekend despite having been nearly at "normal" capacities for a few weeks by now, must have been the lousy weather in Austria which drove people to the movies.

Paw Patrol continued to surprise, and Kaiserschmarrndrama had an excellent forth weekend, catching up a bit on its predecessor (only trailing it by about 70k now). Next weekend: Weather forcasts promise a last real summer weekend so expect horrible drops. Among openers, After We Fell should about follow ist predecessor which opened to about 230k, but with the beautiful weather, everything north of 175k would be a big success (and should be enough for #1). A bit of a dark horse is Marvel's Shang-ChiShang-Chi; reviews are not bad but I don't know if the franchise's popularity can push it over 150k on OW; if it's really good it might develop great legs later on. Two bigger domestic openers - family film Hilfe, ich habe meine Freunde geschrumpft (3rd in a series) and literary adaption Felix Krull - could make the Top10.
IndustriousAngel
Surprising early estimates for Germany's weekend on insidekino.de; After We Fell stays behind expectations and will probably become #2 with 130k admissions while Shang-Chi takes the top spot with about 150k, on the upper end of my expectations. As expected, very step drops for holdovers (-80% for Paw Patrol, -70% Kaiserschmarrndrama), so overall a pretty poor weekend. 1

The two bigger domestic productions opened inside the Top10 but the numbers were far from satisfying … overall, a poor weekend, only 17 movies >10k admissions despite 6 new releases in the Top20. In Austria, we had a very similar weekend, with (once more) Kaiserschmarrndrama doing a lot better than in Germany (but still #4). Next weekend: After a lot of attractive releases last weened, there seems to be nothing left for the coming one … Don't Breathe 2 might become the biggest opener and domestic release Beckenrand Sheriff could see some success thanks to little competition in the comedy segment, but I see none of them in the Top3. Also opening: Stillwater, with very few presales I doubt it will enter the Top10. On the bright side, weather is supposed to turn rainy so we should see some very nice holds or even increases, in general a much better weekend!
