IndustriousAngel
2nd weekend trend: About the same as 1st one, only Männerhort and GoneGirl trend a bit higher. #7 should be QecqoafaBD with 75k admissions. Dracula still crumbling. edit: Last trend: Männerhort stays #1! Close race but Denzel seems to lose the weekend. DolphinTale 2 increased to the first one but still a weak result. And Annabelle could have done a little better in a market without strong horror competition.

Yep, what were they thinking? 3 big releases targeted at the same demo ... either we'll have a monster weekend or some sour faces.

From last weeks Top3, Männerhort and Gone Girl had very nice holds, while DU tumbled hard. Concerning comedies - while Männerhort and especially QecqoafaBD with an increase (again? where will it stop?) did ok, SexTape had an implosion I don't understand (TC went down by only 20%). GotG dropped hard, too, and with screens at a premium next weekend will continue to drop. Outlook for next weekend: With "Vampirschwestern 2" for young girls, "Maze Runner" and TMNT2, there are 3 major releases (each more than 400 theaters) targeted at the young demo ... witht the turtles maybe cashing in on some nostalgia among older movie-goers, too. Still, together with strong holdovers, a difficult situation for theaters, I wouldn't want to allocate those screens! In limited release: Brit comedy "Love Punch" and "The Judge" which may draw some RDJ fans. And in the south of Germany and Austria, bavarian crime/comedy "Winderkartoffelknödel" tries to repeat the success of predecessor "Dampfnudelblues" and may, with high PTAs, open to north of 50k admissions on its few screens.

el sid
Dampfnudelblues I have no idea what means but saying that out loud in English makes it awesome! I did not see Dampfnudelblues but Winterkartoffelknödel (sounds also funny in German) is about a sheriff in a little bavarian village who has to clear up some murders. The trailer was not completely unfunny but perhaps I say that because I live in Bavaria too . In my cinema, the many starts hurt each other a lot. Everthing is only half full or even less. But most of the openers should have a long runtime.
IndustriousAngel
Dampfnudelblues is really a cute low-budget local cop comedy, I liked it - its strength being the regional idosyncrasies - the sequel should be about the same. Business will be good in the target regions and poor to non-existend outside (mainly because theaters won't play it). It's the same with Austrian movies, they rarely do big business in Germany despite the basically same language. They just don't get our jokes I guess ...
IndustriousAngel
Dampfnudelblues I have no idea what means but saying that out loud in English makes it awesome! Dampfnudeln = bavarian sweet dish, a kind of yeast dumplings, blues = sad music, sometimes used as a title for gruesome tales (like "Skinny Annie Blues" by Neal Barrett jr.)

IndustriousAngel
A first trend for Germany's weekend: #1: TMNT - 300k admissions (very ok) #2: MazeRunner - 175k (ok opening) #3: Vampirschwestern2 - 150k (meh ... this includes a lot of previews) #4/5: Equalizer or Männerhort with 125k #6: Gone Girl - 110k "Winterkartoffelknödel" seems to profit from the good WOM of the predecessor and should count more than 60k admissions, really nice number with a theater count of only 136.

el sid
I'm new to german bo. What do you mean by trend? Is it prediction or early estimation based on presales? And these trends are pretty accurate, on Sunday normally with only 5-10k deviation (for the bigger films). Nice for the Winterknödel und the Ninjas! But the smaller newcomers have a pretty hard life with this strong competition, especially "The Judge". If I had to make a prediction for that movie a few weeks ago, I would have typed 300-400k and now even 100k is no lock.
IndustriousAngel
Yep, The Judge is proof that you can't sell a movie on RDJ alone.

TMNT and MR had ok openings, VS2 not so - will be hard to get to the nearly 1mil admissions of part1. "Winterkartoffelknödel" opened much higher than the first one and even managed the highest PTA! Very nice, a slight expansion might be appropriate. In contrast, "The Judge" had the lowest PTA of the openers and will be out of theaters soon I guess.

QecqoafaBD has its first serious drop, after a bad screen loss - finally its days seem to be numbered! Outlook for next weekend: No heavyweigth openers this time; domestic romcom "Coming In" for couples should be a moderate success, domestic drama "Hin und weg" with a more serious theme maybe not, "The Boxtrolls" for families will disappoint (no, stop-motion never did much business here, and I don't expect an exception for the Boxtrolls), and I don't see much market for domestic viking saga "Northmen" after productions like Hercules or DU. "Think Like A Man 2" doesn't look like a breakout either, so TMNT will "rule" the german-speaking boxoffice once more with moderate numbers.

While that's ok for the assisted-suicide-drama, it's ugly for the romcom. Boxtrolls with about 50k admissions ...
