Fast and Furious 7, US gross (28.4.2015) 322M, chinese gross (28.4.2015) 333M difference 11M

FF7 is the highest grossing domestical movie to make more money in a overseas country. It's also the highest grossing ever in a market outside USA.

Seing the explosion of the Chinese market I think we should split the worldwide total into three instead of two: domestical (USA+Canada), China and rest of the world. In fact in past five years (2011-) there have been 12 movies that have grossed more than 150M$ in a overseas market; 9 of these in China (FF7, TF3, TF4, Titanic 3D rerelease and five local titles) 1 in Japan (Frozen), 1 In UK (Skifall) and 1 in France (Intouchables). No doubt that in next years there will be many movies over 150M$ in China and maybe over 200$, and a few in the rest of the world.

However this is not entirely positive for the studios: look at this interesting graph via Wall Street Journal:

Honorable mention. Doraemon Stand By Me continued its surprising run in China this weekend with $13.43 million for a total of $73 million after 11 days of release. Doraemon's China haul has now surpassed its entire Japanese run ($66.7 million) and sits as the third highest grossing animated film of all-time in China behind Big Hero 6 ($84.63 million) and Kung Fu Panda 2 ($94.75 million)
