Taylor Posted March 6, 2024 Posted March 6, 2024 ^ Fair point, it looks like they acquired it before production. But Wadlow co-wrote the script so I'm sure it's not great. Quote
Krissykins Posted March 6, 2024 Posted March 6, 2024 Yeh, if a Blumhouse film is being released by any other studio, you know Universal passed. They have had a first look deal for 10 years now, which actually runs out this summer. 1 Quote
Boxofficerules Posted March 7, 2024 Posted March 7, 2024 Hard to believe this is out tonight, the buzz seems non existent. There are no reviews on rotten tomatoes and it's taking a slaughtering on Letterboxd. Quote
Bob Train Posted March 8, 2024 Posted March 8, 2024 So far 0/3 reviews are positive https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/imaginary/reviews?intcmp=rt-scorecard_tomatometer-reviews Quote
Krissykins Posted March 8, 2024 Posted March 8, 2024 It’s got a goofiness to it. And the dialogue is really heavy handed and obvious. But it actually has about 4-5 good scares in it, and a twist I didn’t see coming. Would be good gateway horror for youngsters. Much better than Night Swim. Quote

ThePhasmid Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 The director's history with Blumhouse leaves much to be desired. I guess it's a low budget risk with medium size reward for him. Meanwhile, still waiting to see any updates for Leigh Whannell's Upgrade property. Quote
Asyulus Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 There’s apparently a single f-bomb in the IMDB parents guide of Imaginary. Who gets to yell the f-bomb? Spoiler The little girl after she pricks her finger to a sharp nail? Or the bear? Quote

DAJK Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 This and Night Swim were about the same quality-wise for me. Ugh. Quote

Dominic Draper Posted March 10, 2024 Posted March 10, 2024 (edited) This was a huge step up for Wadlow from his previous blumhouse films. I went in expecting a 0/10 and came away thinking it's a 3/10. It has a couple story beats and scenes that surprised me in a good way. It's still bad, and forgettable. But i came away thinking that was a generic film with an okay concept that had some potential if a talented director had made it instead of thinking I have lost my faith in humanity that film was so bad like his last 2.
