One reason might be cause America gets more than half of the world's tornadoes every year.
excel1
This needed international release dates to be a few week after America badly. It opened without the sentiment of being a major americium hit, which would have really helped it.

Alexander
Seems like 12M full week after 23M in the previous one. But damn box office reporting really has become awful over last few years. Sites dissapearing or not working properly, Deadline articles being just terrible and now sometimes even official numbers missing.
Noctis
Unbelievably horrific run overseas. It should have managed to hit $200m OS...but this is insane.
John Marston
It’s definitely kind of head scratching. There is no reason it should be doing this bad. Some say it is because the film is too “American” but I don’t buy that. Other similar films have done well overseas. PatrickvD
Speaking as a European, the original is not remembered as some kind of classic that was running on tv a lot. Especially compared to other disaster movies from that era like Armageddon. On top of that, nobody knows who Glenn Powell is. This movie was designed purely for an American audience.
