The Academy - Hourglass Picture's Next Big Film

Slated for a release in late Y7, Ang Lee's ambitious drama, The Academy, will be an exploration of life, individuality, love, and freedom. Centered around five lives across three centuries, the film will focus on five former students who leave a strict academy, forcing them to live out their lives to society's standards and unwritten code of behavior as well as have the ability to use more of their brain for mental reason, rather than emotions, primarily by taking special drugs that will boost the brain's ability to conform with the world around them. Once they leave the academy, they are thrust into the real world, where each of the five embark on a very different path.

The first character, Jeremy, will have a story yet to be determined, but it will be set in the middle of the 19th century and involve political corruption.

The second character, Sandra, is a woman campaigning for womens' suffrage in the early 20th century, and she is torn between keeping safe from societal harm with the drug, or by fighting for her own rights.

The third character, Peter, is an able soldier fighting in the Vietnam war. The drug allows him to make for a stronger leader in battle,  although he still has an opposition to the war.

The fourth character, Maya, is a young woman living in New York City in modern society, and she falls in love with another woman, much to her family's disdain. She still uses the drug, knowing that she cannot fall in love with her, but she can't help but have these feelings towards her.

The final character, Elliott, has abandoned the drug all together, and he has escaped from the academy in the year 2065. The world has changed greatly, as the drug is now being administered to all people in the country, and he is leading a revolution to end this.

A crude way of putting it would be Cloud Atlas meets The Simulation.

--------------------

Here is the current cast:

Jennifer Lawrence - Maya

Channing Tatum - Peter

Dane DeHaan - Elliott

Elizabeth Debicki - Sandra

Ben Whishaw - Jeremy

Peter Jackson's fantasy epic "The Chronicles of Novara: Journey to the End of the World" might hit cinemas Christmas Year 8, which could end the 6 year wait. Entire cast up for return.

Speaking of delayed fantasy franchises, you ever going to finish Bartimaeus? Golem's Eye made almost 209m domestically.

Good to see Novara return. 272.5m Dom/732m WW was a strong start and even with the 6-year wait it should still pull in good money.

Everyone should keep their fantasy films away from early November Year 8 since that's when my third and final (for now) Dragon Age film comes out (#2 did 278m DOM, I don't think OS numbers for Year 5 ever came out?).

I was going to finish Bartimaeus and a wrote a completely stunning and thrilling Part 1 and Part 2 of the final chapter but then my computer crashed and I lost everything. I never had the strength to rewrite it.

Novara 2 has waited sooo long because I really want to make it spectatular and stunning. I didn't have the time to write it.
