Recommended Posts

Holy guacamole! those numbers are insane.I was gonna say that Frozen is on fire in Japan but because of the title of the movie it would not make sense

Its a great oxymoron. Frozen on fire works vey well.I noticed olive posted midweek number last thur morn and BOM updated overseas midweek the last 2 weeks. We should have somethin tomorrow. Edited by mfantin65

So, data (estimates) now should be: total admissions 3.161.689 - total gross $38.642.123

That would be a full 9M from Mon-Wed, which looks too good to be true xD

TOHO  showtimes

                  3/22      3/29

Frozen       498       470

Doraemon 235        230

Hobbit       117        57

Pffft, it's losing more showtimes than Doraemon. I know it's the # of seats that matters, but it's still annoying.

as far as I know, the cut of screens mainly come from the subtitle version. after all, Japanese enjoy dubbed version much more than subtitle. Btw, some bigger screens are given back to frozen from other movies. If new movies flop this weekend, chances are that frozen can get more seats.

God's MR2 bombed last weekend, did that help Frozen getting back some big screens on weekdays?

well, some big screens have been given back to frozen from god 2 last sunday because of the bomb. The biggest 940 seat screen will be back to Frozen from the secret life of walt mitty. I guess the situation depends on the performance of the new movies this weekend.

Uh oh. Somethin rare just happened. I underestimated. Yikes!4.4-4.6m depending on ave tix price. At least 8.5m this week so far. Will you get a midweek update corpse?

As Olive said, figures generally aren't reported unless certain milestones are achieved.  If it breaks 4 billion ($39/40 million) before Saturday, which is pretty likely, we'll probably see an update then.  You guys here are doing a good job tracking its daily performances.  I get about 420 million ($4.1 million) earned on Wednesday, so it should be around 3.8 billion ($37 million) as of Wednesday and might hit 4 billion ($39 million) today (Thursday).

And since it looks like it'll either be very close to or over 5 billion ($48-51 million) after Sunday, that will be enough to beat Dinosaur (4.9 billion) and becomes Walt Disney Animation's biggest film of all-time.

Toho week over week daily percentage increaseMon +42%Tue. +55%Wed +90%Thu. +58%corpse, labas or olive- is it normal for tues and thursday to get progressively larger from monday, like last week M 1.3, T 1.5, Th 1.7.this week is doing the same but at a steeper rise as the week progresses. Have you seen that before in spring break or summer?

This also happens to Doraemon this week. Some people say the steeper rise results from the rising tickets starting from April 1st. So, to save 100 yen, people rush to the theaters this week. Thus, next week will be a challenge to all the movies ,including Frozen.
