68,500 to get 100k bump to 8.7m. Corpse upped his goal from 120 to 150in 4 days. Very nice. He is always lagging me but just caught up. However, after further review of data: looked at several years of SB movies. 2008 GW, same day and dates. Compared the top ten runs. I am upping my goal too.TS3 is a lock. My goal is to beat Ponyo. Anything beyond that is hard to predict without drops to estimate. In two weeks we will have a better idea but still cant place a ceiling on a runner. Just a low end lock in case it begins to fall as a normal movie and a goal based on a similar movie's run.Ponyo is the best comparison. It is similar in OW, Weekend holds, and weekly numbers. It had 7 weeks of summer including Obon. Frozen will be at week 8 with GW and 2 weeks of SB. They have the same ticket prices and currency exchange. We have a proper showdown for admissions, yen and dollars. Its midweek. dropped hard after summer, advantage Frozen. Ponyo did have an extended run. That remains to be seen with sing along released after GW. Frozen has the lead but obon bumps Ponyo for week 5. Last week 58,906+ 80,440=139,346 This week 61,448+ 67,696=129,1447.32% drop in admissions, an amazing hold. 25 of 30 movies in last 3 years dropped more than 20%. None of them were over 5m though. Just 1 dropped less. Tangled -4%129,144 x 1.08 - auspicious number.= 139.475 we have an increase by a Scandinavian swim suit model's pubic hair! +129. 0.09257 % increase. About $1677. Lol 8.6m weekend. Official report can go either way for gain/loss.24.5m week76.1m total

I didn't expect it so soon.I hope it can surprise us.

Super hero didn't do a good job in Japan.  The real challenge comes from

conan detective (manga). Amazing spider man 2 is also a good challenger.

So 7.3% drop at Toho. Does this mean it's dropping too in Yen (or USD) this weekend? Or we can still hope for an increase?

 

Higher ticket prices so most likely flat from LW but they're other chains so it might still be go up for the weekend.

Unfortunately, sandwiched between Detective Conan and TASM2 (and 2 other local movies), and with Frozen still going strong, I don't think it will do much. But maybe it will surprise us. I hope it will, I love the movie.

Yeah, I'm counting on the higher prices, and other chains having smaller drops. But even with a drop, its 4th weekend will still be bigger than its OW. :D

Iron Man 3 and The Avengers were successful.From what I see Japanese people slowly open to this kind of movie, and I'm sure The Avengers 2 will be a huge success here.So given the competition we can't expect too much.I just hope 10m can be reached,the wom should be good like anywhere else.

Boxofficemojo updates overseas total for Frozen at 698,4M$, +24,4M$ weekly increase. Last week was 22M$.

the toho multipliers are working well. We were very close. Bom has reported early estimates a little short. We could be dead on. Edited by mfantin65
