Fanboy
I do not like seeing a Madagscar movie with 8.7/10 average on RT. I know that it only three reviews with ratings, but damn! Looks like this will be considerably better than the first two. Edited June 3, 2012 by Avatarfan
rcalcagn
Didnt this film open the Cannes festival? Thought we would've heard more reviews by now which makes me think DWA is actually clamping down on ANY press.

Ezen Baklattan
Doesn't matter. The marketing is now making me read it in Chris Rock's voice.
RichWS
I would say it's headed for $55M.

Vanilla
Before the summer began I would've said this would've been a big bomb but due to no kids films being out since March I think this could be a nice size hit. I want to say 58 opening weekend.
MovieMan89
I will say the stars have seemed to align perfectly for this movie to get a far bigger opening than it should have. You had the no kids movies for 3 full months thing, constant almost incessant marketing by DW, and every kid out of school by now. I really wish Brave or Ice Age were opening in this spot instead. I'd much rather see them reap the reward of this kid drought, first of summer spot.

We all knew there'd be a relative dearth of kids entertainment around its release, yet we still predicted it to tank.Me, I'm gonna stick with my instincts and say it opens <50m. You don't realize how starved for kids movies 3 months can seem until you actually go through that time frame without there being really anything. And I also didn't know back then DW would be so on top of the marketing. Especially with the piss poor job they did with KFP2's marketing campaign last summer. AniNate
Thing is "lack of kids entertainment" was a justification I used to predict a breakout for Guardians of Ga'Hoole. It also didn't do any favors for Puss in Boots, Happy Feet Two, or really any kids movie that came out last fall.

Last fall we had Real Steel, Arthur Christmas, Jack and Jill, The Muppets, PiB, and Happy Feet 2 all opening close to each other. The last kids movie was Pirates! and that will be 7 weeks old when Madagascar opens. I do think that the legs will be weak because Brave will chop them off in two weeks. Kinda pathetic how that made more money than any other kids film besides Puss in Boots the final third of last year.Still, Ga'Hoole haunts me. Ezen Baklattan
To be fair, a lot of kids went to see The Avengers.
AniNate
To be fair, a lot of kids went to see The Avengers. That's also true. It may be PG-13 but you'd be an idiot to think it wasn't seen by a ton of kids.
