That would be on par with ROTK. According BOM, it opened to 19 million (5-day), and it finished with 48 million. If you compare LOTR European numbers, France is the weakest market for Tolkien (proportionally, of course).

These are SH and Twilight, very frontloaded franchises. I do not know if TH is as frontloaded as those. And we must remember today is Wednesday, not Friday.

We have to remember it is christmas.. Even a December record in many countries would only be 5th or 6th for the year at best. The current December US record is would only be 6th for 2012, even $100M is still only 5th.

I know it. It is just a very early data, but it is a 60% drop in attendance from ROTK. it is not exactly the same release date (a week earlier), but still a bit worrying.

In France, there's a LOTR fanbase that frontloaded every entry back then. But it seems that the craze has worn off and many are considering to wait for the weekend or the holidays to check it. It's not The Event of the year anymore.
