Rsyu
Those local hits will kill GOTG. yeah presales are looking pretty poor right now and it's an unknown property without an existing fan-base. Good word of mouth coupled with local films failing to live up to the hype could give it a chance though.

Rsyu
If Guardians of the Galaxy is not doing well in South Korea that will disappoint me,something which didn"t happen so far this year. You really shouldn't though, these local movies that are coming out now are the most anticipated hits of the year with popular themes and well-known actors. Also while marvel products are generally popular GotG is still an unknown product so there's a high probability that GotG recieves the short straw when it comes to showtimes and screen allocation. Rsyu
Its nearing half of the admissions HTTYD had in total. It's second week so far is very good. After the same number of days played, HTTYD had 940,027 admissions during the same point, managing just sub 50,000 for weekdays in week 2. Holding on to it's screens and showtimes against roaring currents (today) will be crucial for it's legs.
Rsyu
Just watched roaring currents, a really great film especially the battle scenes. Yi sun-sin gives a tactical masterclass on naval warfare. The CG is pretty bad, korean films still lag behind foreign films (especially hollywood) in that department but it wasn't so terrible that it ruined the film experience. I was split on what to expect after I saw that film reviewers gave it a pretty low score (6.0) but the general audience seems to be really embracing it. Naver rating started at around 8.3 in the morning and has been continuously rising throughout the day. It currently stands at 8.96/10 after 2,673 votes. The biggest demography for roaring currents is males in their 20s. D-1 for guardians of the galaxy, it has at least surpassed Kundo in presales but still lags behind How to train your dragon 2. It stands thus in 3rd place with 10.5% share (41,058). This is no guarantee that it will perform better than kundo however as it is likely to lag behind in screens and showtimes. Without the big opening that happens for most marvel CBM, it will rely heavily on good word of mouth to generate business.

Rsyu
It may be premature but I'd say based on the audience reaction and the OD number, roaring currents could be the next 10 million admission film in Korea. Insane hold for HTTYD2 against the huge roaring currents opening. amazing increase from it's OD last week.

TServo2049
Insane hold for HTTYD2 against the huge roaring currents opening. amazing increase from it's OD last week.Sure is. Presales now ahead of Kundo, wow.
Rsyu
Looks like HTTYD 2 might reach $30M+. Not impossible. 47% of HTTYD2's audience chose to watch it in the dubbed version, an indicator that young children are the main audience. With children comes family sized audiences and that demo doesn't overlap too much with the current releases. If it manages to hold on to it's screens over the next two weeks (two more big local movies on the way) then I can see it happen or come close to it. TServo2049
With so many of HTTYD2's foreign markets being more frontloaded than pre-release expectations, it'll be good to (hopefully) see a market where the film is actually BACKloaded for a change. (The only other comparable markets are Australia and New Zealand, where it released before schools got out for winter break, and as soon as breaks started the sales jumped.)The per-screen average jumped even more, since it has less screens.
